How about developing an index number? Average all measurements and call it the hand index.

Missed it first time around, and finally found my ruler. ;)

Over the years I've kinda quit being so surprised when some fellow with a ham like hand swallows mine when we shake hands as I've always thought I had large hands.
Another thing is I've also became leery of shaking hands with anyone except ndn people.
I was always taught to use a firm handshake, but that's foreign to the ndn people.
And with the advent of the arthritis getting into my hands and fingers it doesn't take much of a firm grip to really hurt me. I've learned to say, "Easy" when someone starts turning on the grip.
But some firm grips have turned into a display of strength and people think with arms like I've got they're really gonna be squeezed.
And as such the word, "assume" is proven again.:)

I'm very careful when shaking hands with the elderly, the ladies and anyone I think might have trouble with their hands since my hands have became as sensitive as they are.

I understand what you mean about grips. I have a strong grip, but I've never understood the "crusher handshake" that some people give. It's like they have something to prove. A handshake doesn't have to be a crushing contest to be "firm" ... it just doesn't have to be "limp."
