Nice solid knife. No bladeplay and no lockup problems. I could do without the grip tape though, it grabs anything it can. Used a illumination tool to take the pic below. Too bright but ill retake the shot tomorrow :)

I think it looks best in 1024x768.

I've been thinking about getting one of these little gems, great knife! Thanks for the pic :) I have an ( old style 98' ) MA SOCOM clip piont that I just love, it's perfect in every way. MicroTechs fit and finish are outstanding, IMHO

You gotta love those MT's. I hope they'll make a full sized one soon. By the way, how's the frame lock holding up? I noticed that it has a "Titanium" tip that comes in contact with the tang of the blade. Lets hear more about it.

I want one too. I think the 'titanium' tip is actually hardened 154CM like the blade to prevent galling and lock wear, seems to me a great idea. If it's anywhere near as well put together as the LCC, it seems a bargain in its price range.

Youll have to copy and paste the links below. ImageStation is too cumbersome for me to use (shrinks images). Its been really cloudy today and lighting wasnt all that good and most of the shots had some camera shake. Id be happy to take more specific pics of different parts of the knife.

The tip for the lock is held on by two screws which I suppose was made like that so it can be replaced. I bought it from a previous owner so I dont know if its been used to cut anything heavy but although still sharp, it needs to be touched up on my sharpmaker. Im still trying to get used to opening it because the thumbstuds are too close to the handle IMO. I dont know how to explain it but its not as easy as opening lets say a Spyderco Delica or Benchmade 556. Also, the action isnt as smooth as the two knives above either. All in all, I really like this knife. This is my first (and probably last) Microtech and the most ive paid for a knife so far. It came with a nylon belt pouch that lets you carry the knife either vertically or horizontally. Right now I keep it IWB on my left side.

You wouldn't happen to be able to post a picture of your Mini Socom next to a Spyderco Delica would you?

I'm still debating whether to get a new Mini Socom Elite or the smaller sized older Mini Socom.

Honey well,
the mini-socom is really quite small. The mini-socom elite is the same OAL as the large sebenza, but the handle is a lot slimmer. Unless you have a blade length restriction, I would say to go for the mini-socom elite.

I wish I could but I boxed up and sent off my Delica (sold it) the morning I got the MT. From memory, I think the Delica fit better in my hand but this has about the same thin profile which I like.

Here is a picture a member on here sent me of the older Mini SOCOM with a BM 705.

I agree with you about the thumb studs. I like it when the studs set back a little ways and are not used as a blade stop.

I would go with the elite. The original mini is a tad smaller and the elite fits better in my hand. And, I have small hands.

Elite, 3.4" blade 4.35" handle
Original, 3.19" blade 4.06" handle.

I also like the thumb rest on the elite.

as far as MT goes, i like my MT SOCOM elite w/the brend grind blade, the best w/the LCC w/the ti bolsters and CF handles i have a CLOSE #2, both very well made knives as MT always is

had a SOCOM mini w/a tanto blade i wish i still had, darn it!!

gave this knife to my 8 yr old son, it fits him perfect, he is very responsible and is extremely proud of his knife-can draw his knife as fast as my teenager or me--if you take this wrong i hate it-- but i like giving my children the opportunity to learn and grow-plus we do this together

It sure is a nice looking knife, although i am not tempted to buy one as i am sure to not like the small handle size in my hand. The old socom full size is just right for me so i am holding out for a return of the full sized elite:) come on Microtech give us what we want and less of the OTF high priced toys.;)

I've own three full sized elites over the last year or so, what amazes me is the price for these mini-elites. IIRC, TAD was offering a framelock version for less than $100...to me that's a heck of a deal for a sweet daily carry. Been fighting the urge to get one, but might not last much longer :)

Benchmades...Microtechs...where does it end :D

They have the Mini Socom Elites in satin and stonewashed finish....
here at www.tadgear.com . These are also the lowest prices that I've seen.:)

Anyone hear an echo? jk :p

I got some para-cord from Phil @ 2thehilt today (great service btw) and made a lanyard for the MSE. About halfway through, I was thinking I shouldnt have made it closed loop like that because if I ever decide to take it off, the only way is to cut where it loops (a waste of paracord) or cut the ends, take it apart, and start all over (waste of time). The para-cord has two filler stands in it so its not the mil-spec one and I gutted it so its just the shroud. I also wanted to try the one that Chris Reeve uses on his knives, but ill do that later on.
