New ZT looks pretty disappointing

I just got an email from Knifecenter. All ZT are on sale making the 0357 only $124. I may not be able to resist...

Just got that email too.

Rather than introduce lower end assisted knives, why not got full bore and make an automatic or three. I love my Kershaw Launch 8, but could you imagine a ZT auto, Ti and CF, 20cv, it would be wicked.

Back when I was in the chunkier knife phase, I owned quite a few ZTs. 0561 Elmax, 0801, 0350TS, 0770cf Elmax.

Sold all around 2015/16. Only ZT I have now is a 0095 BLK S90V, I just really liked the design, and it's one of only two "hard use" knives I own.

Nowadays, I'm a much lighter person (about 70lbs less than when I carried the 0561) and prefer lighter, thinner knives. 70% of the time I carry a Hogue Exploit, 20% the Kershaw Launch 8, and just for grins a manual once in a while, especially if I want a smaller blade.

I went to a knife store in Florence AL yesterday to see if I could check out a 357 and maybe buy one if I liked it enough. They didn't have one in stock, so I checked out a sheepsfoot 20cv Griptilian. And walked out with it. Lol

I liked their Hinderer collabs and glad I kept the 0550, 0560, 0562 and 0566. Other than that their Ken Onion knives were nice. The new stuff? Meh. No thanks. Too many other great choices out there.

This March sale is almost making the 0357 attractive, one e-mail I received has them for $120 and $124. Still not for me but it should pull some fence sitters in. I remember when you could get an 0566 for that price (not that long ago), I liked that deal. Those have a detent also.

I'll admit, the MAP cuts to ZTs is welcome right now. I already got a 0308, but I think $250 is more in line with what it should cost rather than $300.

And $206 for 0308 is even better. Not originally on my radar but man this price is so tempting ...

A titanium ZT auto would be really awesome actually. With their success of the Kershaw Lucha, I've got my fingers crossed for a titanium channel ZT balisong also...

@whp, As one who uses his knife as a tool, a flipper is not the preferred way to open a work knife. It is useful for a mall ninja.
I m still learning how to use my work knife, maybe.

Thank you for your concise and honest comment. For years I've had to read "knife dueling" stories just to get down to the benefits of a new and useful folding knife.

I just put a 30K edge on a 29 dollar knife. If you forgot you working knife on the way to work, and I gave you mine, you'd find that the bevel angle was chosen and polished for a regular guy's daily chores.

Granted, it's better to have a knife and not need it than to need a knife and not have it. But in all these years the only blood I've drawn is to deftly slice a steak at Doolittles.

Again, thank you for the straight up opinion!

Well, who knows. ZT is on sale everywhere now, and it might just be that they have realized the upper end of their market pricing. I know the pricing has kept some of my people away (me, too!) and it could be that what is driving the sale.

OTOH, it might just be marketing...

Ordered a 0357bw for $119.99 last night, too good a price for me to pass up. It’s the least amount of $$$ I’ve actually spent on a ZT.

I just did too. Couldn't help myself. That's a steal. Imbactually pretty psyched for it now! I also may get the 308. I have no clue if I'd like it but that deal is blazing hot!

I picked up both versions of the 357. I was able to snag the 357 for $120, and 357BW for $124. For the price I feel like the value is there. I know this knife may not be for everyone, but I am looking forward to receiving mine and getting to put them in my EDC rotation. Stay sharp!

I'm happy for you dudes! Please visit this thread again with some honest feedback and pictures.

I recently picked up an 0357BW, and can say that I am genuinely satisfied with the product for the money!

The ergos are great. The little scoop in the blade spine is perfect for my thumb. I've been using it at work and to be quite honest, the Speedsafe is convenient since I have to wear gloves 60 percent of the time.

The G10 is nice and grippy and the blade shape is very practical for my uses. I think it's a steal at $124, but what do I know? I'm just a Texican trying not to catch the Corona!

Just received it in the mail today. Very nice knife for the $119.99 I paid for it, that’s for sure. Really like the blade shape and the slight swedge on the spine of the blade, great place to place your finger. Locks up about 40% and it’s rock solid. Handle may be just a tad to short for me to be perfect (I wear size 2XL gloves) but it’s not a game killer. Overall can’t complain getting a ZT with 20CV steel and beefy liners for what I paid for it.....just wish it wasn’t speedsafe, but then again I wish that with my 0770, 0566’s, 0350’s, knockouts, links, leeks as well, lol. Very happy with it though.
