NOTABLE PAIRS : Only traditionals

Can't think of a much more notable pairing.

A couple of rare notables Mark. They do belong together. You're a lucky man to have both. :D:thumbup:

They are hot, aren't they :). The bottom is from the first run of 79's and is the Montana whittler. 3 springs and oh so nice with half stops and certainly an unmatchable trio of blades. These where the first knives to be released by GEC after I started hanging around here. It also happens to be the first knife gifted to me on this wonderful forum. It is a spectacular knife with a lot of meaning.

In my sig line I was looking to buy a single spring to go with it. Not necessarily the same covers but I do have a thing for single spring equal ended jacks. A few other awesome members contacted me with 79's but wasn't meant to be. Paul offered up this amazing match to the whittler and I couldn't pass it up. I will certainly cherish this pair for as long as I can :)

Just wonderful, Jeff! Thanks for the information and congrats. Notable indeed:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

This is probably my favorite pair. GEC 47 swayback in ebony and 1095, John Lloyd toothpick in amber stag and 52100.
All bases covered, and then some.

Beautiful patina on your #79! I have the same Workhorse in African black wood. Did you force it or let it happen naturally?

Thank you SD. I've never had much success in forcing patina, it tends to come out extreme and rather patchy. What I usually find effective is to use the knife every day for a couple of weeks, remove the patina with scotchbrite type abrasive pad, let more form and then it builds up well. The Workhorse is a good blade for kitchen prep, I eat fruits including citrus everyday and use a knife I want to patina for this and all other veg&meat kitchen prep. This seems to be effective. The Sleeveboard 26 is still untouched, hard to grip on and it has a spring of macho brutality (9+) rather out of place on a small thin knife...:confused: the Workhorse is just right in that Dept though:thumbup:.

I bought the toothpick as a gift, but this pair is pretty impressive. 😁 decisions, decisions..

Here's a new pair. Harald and I are trading knives, and he sent me the sowbelly first to see if I liked it. I do like it, a lot, and am going to be sending it to Case for a spa service tomorrow when I ship my knife to Harald.
Let me end my ramblings and present to you...Fire and Water

They don't have visual similarity, nor the same era or country, but these two arrived in the same envelope this week and certainly strike me as Notable.
Moreover, they have the essence of the Forum about them: Jamie sold me the Purple Sage 83; and many people refuse to even contemplate overseas deals, something I find irritating I must say; but no such standoffishness from Jamie, a real gent. Just to reinforce this point, I'd like to add that he very kindly included the Wostenholm Sleeveboard as a present for me. It's a fantastic little knife as I'm keen on single-spring knives, very kind indeed. Notable I'd say:D
