Anybody? Anybody? Zmb? Primitive? Casino? Perhaps you would also say a few words here about your experience with the Racing Light Chopper? How's that thin edge holding up?

Thank You.

Soooo at first glance they are nearly identical.

You have to look at the edge to see which one is which. Then it's pretty easy to spot.

Definitely failed the nail test, which is not a good test for it anyways.

I think it's exactly what Nathan said. Thin and fragile but cuts like hell. I can cut my grass with it. I would have no problem using it on wood or anything like that, but I would suggest to keep your cuts accurate and chose a different tool if you think you might be getting into something too hard or perhaps might be contaminated with rocks or nails etc. If you hit something with the blade at the wrong angle, I think it could cause damage.

Sooooo Justin...

1) Where did you find one?
and
2) You drove it through a nail first thing? Really? Wow, you're not messing around! Pics??

Mine was a proxy bid which was then detoured and finally went to Justin! His toddler and I had made a pact to delay Dad by just a few nanoseconds so I could beat him, just for once EVER. But then I felt badly for cheating and and the rest is history!

lol! I was beside myself in shock to not see him come in first. Good work, Casino + kid!

Oh Man,

Yes, my toddler wouldn't let me put him down, so I was a bit slow on that one sale. Now I know why! I was first on the rest of them though lol. Casino proxy bid for a guy, but he contacted me and let me have it afterall, so poor Nathan had to deal with 3 people to get that one delivered. :(

Pic? Ok I will post one from my phone in a few.

Wow, thank you. :) I was expecting much worse. Which seems to be a recurring event with D3V for me.

Yes that is the theme isn't it. Not as bad as I thought. FYi it was sharpened after which took a touch of it out, but it's still visible. It's not insane damage or anything.

Where I live there are no coconuts that are still in the husk or I would try it out for ya. I can't imagine they are hard as nails.

I unfortunately didn't win a CPK Chef knife so I am going to use my RLC for chopping bone, pineapples, and other heavy kitchen cleaver work. A heat wave and air full of smoke from local fires have prevented me from wanting to do kitchen and outdoor work.:(

Left and bottom: RLC weight 16.68 oz. Terotuf,
Right and top: LC weight, 17.32 oz. Smooth black micarta.

These comparison pics are probably not the ones you want.

I sent Justin mine. He traded me a Sebenza for it- I know it's probably worth a lot more than a Sebenza, but I figured that he's contributed so much to this forum that he deserved a bit of a thing.

And, the nail... I lent this knife to a good friend of mine, knife making friend, whose 8 year old chopped a nail with it. I spent a little time getting the edge up to par, but didn't want to go so far as to fatten the edge bevel to a point where it was no longer lighsaberesque. I'd like to see Justin whittle a hair with it, I do think it's possible.

I'm cringing already. Some of the worst damage I've seen with steel has been against bone. Please post your results if you do, so I can go 'ooooh, aaaaah!' or 'ouch!' :)

Lorien dished so I won't feel the need to keep the details private next time :)

While there are some areas of the husk that are quite fibrous and tough, my concern there is about catching or dragging the edge when twisting and prying. Also the strikes on the hard shell and on the chopping block have me concerned. Not only can that shell be hard, but I hit it at all kinds of angles, and there was previously talk of possible edge damage with strikes at unfavorable angles with the super duper thin edge. I wonder how the edge would fare through Nathan's Osage Orange scrape test.

Egads! There's no way I would allow my potato knife anywhere near bones or pineapple; the edge is way too fragile. The poor knife would be mangled in short order on chopping duty.

Thank you very much for the pics!

PrimitiveEnergy, I do look forward to your RLC progress reports!
