I am quite excited to have it. Not sure how much "use" I'll get out of it, as it appears to be a skinning knife, but I'll certainly research how to clean it up and get it in tip top shape!
Please remember that "tip top shape" means keeping it as close to original as possible. It's a beautiful knife and you want to stop the rust as soon as possible without eliminating the knife's history.
Of course it is your knife so you may do what you wish with it. We're just answering your questions and giving our opinions.
