Random Thought Thread

^^^we stare a whole reno next month. Main floor, upstairs bedrooms bathrooms kitchen... I am not exactly excited for this.
You should really try to pick a colder season to start that!
My most agonizing job was in November of 2014 when I installed a glass mosaic backsplash at my uncles house in Colorado Springs when it was somewhere around 10 degrees outside and my tile saw thought it would be cute to act like a snowblower and shoot ice and glass into my face and hands every time I had to make a cut.
Now I won’t even consider doing a job like that unless it’s in the 70’s.

I was at a conference dinner this year and someone at the table asked about hobbies. I said that I enjoy making knives. A guy from England said, "well that's terrifying". I didn't miss a beat, I burst out laughing and said that his comment was hilariously ignorant. Five minutes later everyone including him were looking at some Coop photos with appreciation.
I thought the appropriate response was to go, "Nah...", then give them a grin with lots of teeth while opening your eyes "til they can see whites all the way around your irises, and say, "The terrifying part is testing them after I've made them".

🤣

I would like to thank TENTEX TENTEX for showing me a new use for a knife. I legit didn't know saber opening was a thing until I saw his post

That's funny. My better half wanted a Japanese style short sword for Christmas, mostly for exactly that purpose ....

Now I did pick 3V .... But: hope you guys don't mind that it wasn't a CPK knife.

Does this mean using PayPal or Venmo is more trouble than it's worth for occasional sales?
Can someone more savvy comment on this?
Apologies if this has been addressed somewhere else on the forum.
It feels invasive and the knee jerk reaction is to try to bypass it somehow.
I think it depends on your situation. If you buy and sell a small volume of knives and don't make much if any profit, then it amounts to having to fill out one more form at tax time, and you shouldn't have to pay anything. If you are a high volume flipper and used to pulling in plenty of tax free income, then you will likely be looking for another way to do business. A real business like CPK I'm sure are already filing taxes on their income, so I'll be interested to hear if this has any effect in that case, I doubt it.

My understanding is that it's a PITA, and encompasses all e-payment methods. Transactions totaling $600 or more per year get reported.

Even if you bought something for $1000, then sold it for a loss at $600, the onus is on the individual to show that, in order to ensure that the $600 isn't taxed/taxable. 😕
