If your house is made of straw and you are made of pork, get out now! This wolf photo was taken last night by my neighbor in town. He texted me “There is a wolf in your yard”. View attachment 2975186

Snow on the ground already up there? Reminds us what's just around the corner here. I still miss having more cooler months and it still feels odd not having snow cover regularly through the winter. This wolf photo was taken last night by my neighbor in town. Not yet….but soon. It will be dropping into the 30’s for lows next week at the cabin. I love seeing the leaves change, cool temps, and less skeeters!Snow on the ground already up there? The size of the bears at Katmai from eating so much salmon is just amazing. These are previous winners from Katmai Fat Bear weekSnow on the ground already up there? Whenever I see wolves at my cabin I either don’t have my phone with me, or they don’t stick around long enough to get a photo.
I have had them less than 50 feet watching me do chores. Had a pack run up on us while we were taking a break marking trail to the cabin spot. Never had one show aggression, but learned that they ‘bark’ occasionally to alert others when I am being stupidly quiet doing trail work. I use loppers as much as possible for encroaching brush, and when the ground is wet it can be pretty quiet walking. Seeing tracks where you have just walked is pretty cool to me. Having them howl back in winter is as well. They keep their distance, very cool to see them. Plus, no more Coyotes![]()
Are they really that big!?This wolf photo was taken last night by my neighbor in town. He texted me “There is a wolf in your yard”. View attachment 2975186
Wolves are pretty damn bigAre they really that big!?
What a monster
Nothing like that here in Australia. Except maybe the german shepherd that lives next door
The really big ones at end of season are over 1200 lbs. One called 747 was estimated at 1400 lbs. My wife and I watched a huge one waddle into the water and had so much fat that it was rolling side to side trying to reach fish. They dig large ‘belly holes’ to lay on to take pressure off when they lay down. The weight gain is truly amazing. They eat as much as 120lbs of salmon per day during the time they can.Are they really that big!?
