Hard to make out colors
I was taught black head thin yellow separates black and red, equals a coral. some are taught red touches yellow kills a fellow rhyme. the florida coral is part of the cobra snake family.

that rhyme doesnt work on a central american coral snake that is a different color pattern. just best not to touch them, if ya can.

I should also mention these corals are super shy snakes. you'll almost never see them. they hide under leaves and such. if they see you they flee away fast. I saw that one as I mowed down some long mess and it ran into the dirt road to escape. soon as I turned mower off it fled into the jungle for safety.

The saying here is blue on black, tears on a river, push on a shove, it don't mean much, joker on jack, match on a fire, cold on ice, it's a dead man's touch.

I treat them all with a healthy respect, poisonous or not. We had an angry water moccasin that had to be sent off to a milking farm, but the rest get released.
ya close to the river named state park? bet ya see a few water snakes every now and then.....

Perhaps not strictly, but Andy's post instantly made me think of it and I just listened to it for the first time in maybe ten years. Enjoyed every second of it.

We back up the a preserve that backs up to the park. Lots of critters, but I have only seen 3 moccasins.

Next door neighbor says he saw a glimpse of our elusive bobcat trying to hunt a fawn, the other day.
