Beautiful “very dark” knives Gary, and you had me Googling again! This week I've been carrying these two somewhat stygian samples: a black Victorinox Spartan (thanks, Paul) and a Kingston cattle knife (thanks, Mark).

Thanks John. It’s Bog Oak and it’s been a bit of a project. It had blade play, and I fixed that but now it’s not centered. Trying to fix the centering has brought back the blade play!I didn't even know they had spear blades... I really like it.![]()

Thanks Gary, I didn’t have to Google that one! Thanks, Todd. When I was a kid, I loved reading Greek and Roman mythology from a book that I think my maternal grandmother used when she was in school. Even in college, although I was a math and science guy, I managed to make room for a Classical Mythology course. Because of those strange interests, I'm familiar with some of the vocabulary that has been derived from mythology, like "stygian" from the River Styx, the major river in the Greek (I think) underworld.
Your spearpoint Böker Barlow is a Black Beauty (another literary reference from the math geek)!

Wonderful collection Sir, that looks like they actually get carried, used and enjoyed! Are the three down the left side all variations on the 99 pattern?
