six flags is not knife friendly

Sea World San Diego has armed security in semi tactical gear walking around the main gate (probably to deter the ALF wackos), but virtually no actual checks of your person or property for guests. We went on a random week day and it was mostly empty, the only thing they checked was my girlfriend's purse with a ruler glance, I had a Manix LW inside my pants pocket.

They did, however, care when we tried to take an emperor penguin with us

As far as 6 flags Arlington, I'd be just as worried about getting herpes from that place and it's clientele as anything else. Stadiums aside, Arlington is a pretty nasty place, prob want to avoid any bars not in the entertainment area (and driving around lately it seems). The city is sandwiched between dallas and Fort Worth and, much like a perineum, gets the worst of both sides.

I had to surrender my Camco Scout knife at Fiesta Texas in San Antonio but the nice St Adult Security guy held it for me and I got it when I left.

I occasionally need some help walking and I use a KABAR defensive cane .Do any of you have experience in not permitting such a cane ?

I sometimes have need of a cane when my knee or ankle act up - never had an issue, whether I'm using my Kabar cane, one of my walking sticks (42", 48" or 60"), or my bentwood "cattle prod" style cane.

You might have a "safety issue" trying to get on a roller coaster with a cane, but never a security issue getting into any business. For a business to deny you the use of a cane would be a violation of the ADA and subject them to a potential lawsuit.

Canes are protected under the ADA and the park an their employees who even ask why you have it can be sued.

Unless they have a reasonable suspicion that it's a sword cane or similar (which are already illegal in most places anyway). Of course, they also shouldn't be confronting you at all then and should contact security/police.

In the instance of six flags above, a sword cane would be illegal as it has a blade well over 5.5" (which is still the law until 9/1), you could be lawfully arrested and charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon as it's a prohibited weapon per the PC.

Correct but if their wrong they will pay!
A lot of people really overestimate their chances and the "ease" with which you can win a lawsuit or get a settlement against a large company. Many companies these days respond to demand letters with an attitude of "yeah? Go ahead" and will fight suits aggressively. In addition, fewer and fewer lawyers are interested in contingency cases where there isn't a very high probability of success.

They have security and do not permit knives in the park for what reason eludes me.
I don't know the reason but I think they are right not to let knives in. I know it's crazy but here would be my reason. Some number of them will fall out on the rides or just anywhere and there are MILLIONS of tiny little curious hands around that place all the time. I also wouldn't want a kindergarten teacher carrying a knife even if he's a trained Black Ops specialist. Kids are just too fucking impossible to keep out of your shit.
