Might it have been an April 1 edition of the Miami Herald?Sorry. I should have specified "in Florida".
"turned off" means "dead" ... or end of the current "life", whichever you prefer.
I read that "Fact" in the Miami Herald, in 2002 or 2003.

Putting some geographic restrictions on the claim makes sense (if I stay in Michigan, I really have no worries about being killed by shark or coconut), but fewer traffic fatalities than coconut fatalities just doesn't pass the "smell test" for me. According to this report
https://www.flhsmv.gov/pdf/crashreports/crash_facts_2002.pdf
there were 3143 traffic fatalities in Florida in 2002, about 8.6 deaths per day on average. I just can't buy that more than 8 people were getting killed in Florida each day by falling coconuts!
Anyway, your opinions on SAK models seems right on the money to me.

I'm a big fan of my Huntsman, and I think I'd probably like a Fieldmaster even more because of the backside philips screwdriver, but I've never actually bought a Fieldmaster.
