Tactical Pants (I hate that term for them) what is your favorite?

I don't wear "tactical" pants, but my "Riggs Workwear" by Wrangler cargo-pants are awesome. I've a couple pair and they're pretty sturdy - even though they're made from "ripstop" cloth it is very heavy duty stuff.

For my slow speed high drag missions these days, I wear Gander Mountain Guide Series pants. They are comfortable, quick drying, lightweight ripstop. And relatively inexpensive. They have a "convertible" pant like them, but I don't wear shorts anymore.

Jeans, thinking about Dickies, almost bought some overalls. Might yet. The camo military look kind of creeps the farmers out around here. I find that city people go full Monty camo and the rurals were whatever worn out ass duds are laying on the chair..... Around here anyway.

I hate that they use the term Tactical Pants...I think they should be called practical pants! Or Functional! Anyway my recent 5.11 purchase left me wonder if they are letting there quality slide? I spoke with someone at 5.11 and they asked me if I could look at the tag where the pair I have was manufactured at. Seems they are having issues. So I have been search around, reading reviews and found that many really like Proppers Lightweight, 24x7 Lightweight and VertX Tactical Pants quite a bit. LAPG loves the vertx. BDU.com love the Propper and they both push them. The Vertx seems to look very much like a nice causal office friendly pant. I might get a pair...so many great reviews it is hard to deny! Also the Proppers and 24x7 (which I guess are Tru-Spec higher line) are really nice and many have said they much prefer them to 5.11 now. I am not certain about that but with my recent purchase I might take a chance...just wish I had a store around to try them on.

I like Dickie's carpenter pants--tough cotton duck with pockets (not cargo) on the right leg (perfect for flashlight, knife, AND pepper spray) and a hammer loop on the left. The rear pockets are sizeable and close tight, so nothing falls out. They're almost as nice as Carhartts at only half the price. Walmart carries them, but Denim Express (online) has them for even less--$18. They consistently fit well (36x30) and don't scream, "I carry weapons!"

Arborwear Tech Pants. Tough nylon that dries quickly and is super comfortable. Best all-around outdoor pant I've used.

I really like Vertx's line. They've got a zippered inner pocket on the front right hip, which is nice to hold any small items you might carry. Plus, each of the cargo side pockets has an inner divider, and none of the pockets have velcro, which I hate!

Those the best tactical pants that are not tactical looking up to 4 pairs now. Need them to carry all the stuff i have accumlated since ive been here ,

What are "tactical" pants?

I want tough, durable pants that dry quick and are light with pockets to hold enough items without the cargo pants knee slapper pockets or I want heavy duty work pants.

I don't personally understand the cargo pant pocket (although I was wearing some yesterday). Having anything hard or bulky banging around against my knees drives me batty.

I have a pair of 5.11 EMT pants with the kneepads that are great. But they are the most non-symmetrical pants I've ever owned. Meh. I also have a pair of standard "new uniform" ACUPATs that I like, but don't wear much anymore. I would love to have them in black though. I'm also looking for pants that have the "tactical" features, (useful pockets, reinforced knees) all that stuff, but that would be considered business dress casual.

Tru spec 24-7s. I wear 'em daily for work. I work in a state psych facility & scrubs suck. They tear too easily & I get in a lot of fights on the job. I tried 5.11's for a year & spent as much on repair in that year as I did on the pants themselves! The tru specs have been worn weekly (I have 5 pair) and I've had 1 seam rip in 3 years.
