Tactical Pants (I hate that term for them) what is your favorite?

Most of the time I just wear carharts or dickies of similar material. Duluth is awesome as well.

I like 511 taclite pros. I'm always for the lookout for new brands of pants.

For those who wear duluth fire hose pants, are they cool in the heat of the summer?

While they're not "tactical" in the true sense of the word, they could be and many companies like Arc'teryx LEAF make very similar tactical pants. I've been using Patagonia Alpine Guide pants for years. They have two zipped cargo pockets [as well as other zippered pockets], the material is super tough, water resistant, and breathable. I rarely use Gore-Tex on my legs anymore. Fantastic product, that you'll get many years out of and if they don't meet your satisfaction, Patagonia will make it right.

I just bought 2 pairs of vertx and a pair of 24x7. I certainly love my 5.11s so I am hoping these other will hang with them. Bought them at BDU so I have a year if I want to return them! HAHAHAH. LAPG didnt have stock on one pair and with shipping was actually more. Add the 365 return policy and BDU seems great place to buy. Anyone buy anything from BDU? I have with LAPG which was a good experience however I didnt havent anything wrong with my order so never tested the CS there.

Sans-a-Belt tactical pants are excellent as are Botany 500 Polyester Action Fatigues.

I like the 511 pants (the 100% nylon ones) and Blackhawk's Warrior Wear pants. I have a pair of LAPG's own BDU-style nylon pants that are also very good. I hate it when I see a pair of cargo pants I really like the looks and features of, and then find they're made of 100% cotton. Bummer!

After becoming used to wearing cargo pants, I hate the small pockets and lack of cargo pockets on jeans and chinos!

Stay sharp,
desmobob

I grew out of my Sans-a-belt tac pants, which I didn't think was possible. But I have a new tactical operation coming up next week, and I desperately need to replace them. Have you tried the Member's Only version?

I had their Operators' Tac-Jac but the dangling collar thingy was almost my undoing while on a covert mission. Suffice it to say I stopped wearing M.O. then and there.

I hear ya. my M.O. Tac-Jac came with a warning label to always keep the dangling collar thingy firmly secured during operations, or risk permanent blindness. Seems like an obvious design flaw, which I hope will be addressed in 2.0

I have had several different brands, but I prefer propper Tactical light weight pants. They just seem to fit me the best.

I get 511 through my work and like them, but only in black and they are a little pricy for me to buy my own. I've been getting woolrich pants and like them alot. They have a ton of styles and pocket setups, and if you google them there's a certain retailer that puts them on sale often for $20 shipped.

Oh hell no, thick and very warm in the summer. Great when its cooler out though.

I don't wear "tactical" pants, but my "Riggs Workwear" by Wrangler cargo-pants are awesome. I've a couple pair and they're pretty sturdy - even though they're made from "ripstop" cloth it is very heavy duty stuff.

^^^These are VERY good. They're not your traditional 'tacticool' pants, but they are good stuff, and their ripstop seems extra heavy duty. Every year, our local general store usually does a sale on these that are slight factory 'blems' (and I can't tell how) and I get them for like $17/pair. Love 'em...tank-tough, comfortable, functional, and they don't stand out as much compared other dedicated service type pants. Decent color selection too.

I have Royal Robbins that I like and have 5.11 Cotton pants that are good for warmer weather, tho I'm not as much of a fan of the rear slash pockets as they're pretty deep, and as I have for my entire life carried my wallet in the rear pocket, it makes me change my normal routine or have to shift the wallet if I'm going to sit for awhile. I just traded into a couple pairs of the Tac Pro Lite version that I'm anxious to try out.

I keep an eye on The Clymb for a pair of the Fjallravens, they get very good reviews and outdoorsy folks seem to love them, but if you can't find a deal on them, they're crazy expensive. I was also in an Eddie Bauer shop not too long ago and they had some 'technical' pants in the four-way stretch material that were pretty nice, but not really 'tacticool' either.

The ones I'll probably get later down the line when $$ allows are the Vertx, they look like good, professional appearing pants...function without too much extra gaudiness.

Cheers,
BOSS

I'm another member of the Wrangler club, apparently. I have two pairs of their sub-$20 cargo pants from Target and one of the Riggs Workwear pants. I also picked up a couple of pairs of Union Bay cargo pants at one of the department stores and have been pretty happy with them. They're not quite as roomy as the Wranglers when it comes to crouching or crawling (oh, the glamor of IT work!) but the overall fit is better.

I do have some Tru-Spec BDU pants as well, but by the time I'm carrying so much stuff as to need the bigger pockets, I'm well beyond my typical daily attire, probably wearing a backpack and replacing my pocket-carried EDC items with sheathed/OWB gear.

The 5 .11 is still my favorite, I have not had the problem with QC you have, they seem great. I do agree that I do not prefer the term tactical pants even though they double as that, but most of us just like them for how versatile they are with pockets and the quality/durability that they are made of.

since this tread started, and I responded, I broke down and picked up a couple of pairs of 511 brand britches. They are very, very good. Won't wear them all the time, but I am switching to them for hiking and camping.

For the outdoors I really like the Arborwear tech cargo pants. They are 100% nylon but they are soft land breathable, they dry very quickly and aren't super hot in the sun. They're pricey, but have proven very durable and worth the money to me.

5.11 TDI's.

These are my work pant and they see hard use.

The internal kneepad option is excellent.

They last about ten months before needing replacement, and that is 5/7 wear with two pairs.
