These are among my favorite Benchmade knives. I own a couple of each and have used them for years. What variants and history do these knives have? Where did the 806/805 come from? As always pictures are appreciated and welcome.

805/806 are descended from the AFCK's. I don't know much of Benchmade's history but it seems like I bought my AFCK's just over 15 years ago.

The 805 is one of those great but discontinued Benchmades that I wish I had.

I'm not sure if the 805 didn't come along at the same time as the 800, OK maybe a little later, someone will come up with dates for this I'm sure. The question is whether the 800 came out in an early version like the 803 did in Gin-1 before the Axis based 805 in 440C did. I love both designs separated by the blade shape but retaining the rest, but will say I prefer the slimmer and simpler Walker liner lock versions.

Want pics? Here's a few:

That's enough for the minute...;)

How many variants of the 710 have there been to date?
I think I counted about 8-9 from memory alone.

The 806D2 was introduced in 2002. and maybe a 805 was changed from the 800 to the 805 when the axis lock was added.

from the 2002 catalog

For all you Benchmade aficionados out there who have become huge AFCK fans over the years (and for you soon to be converts) - the AFCK (and TSEK) has just gotten better. We have now integrated the unsurpassed AXIS locking mechanism with its many positive attributes into the AFCK's original chassis. Now you get the same time honored, proven performance of the AFCK design, supercharged with the added superiority of AXIS.

The 800 was not included in the 2002 catalog

This is a good one to bookmark.
Years produced etc.

And yes, the 805 is my favorite BM.
Have been trying for another 805 LE for quite some time now.
I should just be happy I was able to get both 1101's produced through KW.

Thanks for the pictures MCM. I was lucky enough to get a pair or the M390 805s, and 3 of the M390 AFCK 806s. I agree with you on the 805 being a great model, it is one of my favorite (right up theree with the 710/806). Now, if we could get the 805 in M4, that would special. ;)

Your so funny! (been trying for 2 yrs now)
Will keep trying!
Am thinking un coated Polished M4 these days...........
Will see!

Good show noodle

I think if we ask for the M4 805 back to back, it might be more effective. If you email "the man", let me know so I can follow up with an email of my own. I know some other folks that would love to see a 400 piece run (200 black and 200 satin). I'd be done for a couple of each. ;)

These were my 2 805 M390 users, I blacked out the top one, bottom one had scales from an 806-901:

I wanted max grip, so I had a set of coarse PP scales made to replace the flat G10 from the 806-901, swapped blades as well:

Not made to be pretty/edges left raw for now, but man do those scales grip.

This 805 hybrid was sent to Benchmade for a sterile M390 blade (no serial number please) and the black scales came from the 806 version.

This guy gets a lot of carry time and sees regular use in my kitchen...for some reason.

I carry a 710 often. I just purchased a 710 in M390 on the exchange yesterday, I thought that the dealer was gonna have it indefinitely but they switched their exclusive to M4. I'd like the M4 also but do prefer the uncoated M390.

I totally missed out on the whole AFCK thing, I'm still pretty new to knives compared to a lot of you guys. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on a few and also hopefully BM pumps out some limiteds in the future. Seems like a beloved model.
