The "Ask Nathan a question" thread

Hey so i got two beginner questions if anyone's got the time to answer,

I gave the first few pages of this thread a scan and checked out the website and some other threads but couldn't spot too much info on shipping and the weekly sales you do. I wanted to know if firstly, you ship internationally (Australia) and secondly, in your sale threads is it just a matter of commenting "I'll take one" and then direct messaging you shipping info or is there a different preferred procedure?

Apologies if this info is provided somewhere and i've just managed to miss it but gotta say i only learnt of this brand a week ago and i'm dead keen to get my hands on some carothers

Sections of each Adam. I believe Nathan is trying to figure out how to incorporate this on the competition choppers we will be making. :)

Hey! And welcome! Yes, we ship internationally. We charge actual shipping costs rather than the flat $10 for this. The sales are held on Fridays and yes it is a matter of posting you will take one. Then I will contact you via PM or if you don't have P Ms you can contact me. The sales generally sell out in a few seconds though and so you have to have posted within the # we have available that week. Good Luck!

With a huge increase in both traffic in this subform and also the interest in the CPK patterns, who among the old timers (or even better Nathan himself if time permits) wants to volunteer to make a thread about the buying protocol and procedures for the Carothers' Fridays Sales? I believe that as they go forward and in light of the aforementioned increases, a sticky thread may now be quite prudent. JMHO :)

Do you happen to have any of the steel 9" discs left? Or planning another run of them anytime in the near future? Apologies if this is the wrong forum for that.
 
Nathan, is there a timeline or reasonable estimate as to when the rest of the HDFK pre-orders will ship? I apologize if this has been covered but I have not been around as much as I would like due to family issues. Thanks =)

We've decided to make shipping the preorders a high priority for the end of this year so we intend to ship all of the HDFK and most of the 3" EDC within the next few months.

We have 20 HDFK ready to ship now, just waiting on sheaths to arrive. Probably ship early next week.
 
Our output and new patterns are going to be a little slow in the upcoming months. We did this last year too, developing the new HT for 4V over the winter and the winter before with new development work. This winter we're developing the new competition choppers with Dan, a one-off custom project, and the pre-order production. So available output will be reduced some while we focus on our homework, so please be patient with us as we ramp into our next phase of production in the Spring. The new Mori has greatly increased our productivity. There are now four CNC machining centers and a bunch of steel on the floor (a bunch of 3V and V4E), and there is a new 10" Chopper we're cutting now that I promise will impress. There is a big batch of HDFK in the pipeline. There is also the new Bladesports knives, another run of a Utility Fighter, the Field Knife 2.0, Loren's new DEK1 coming up in addition to the EDC 2.0 in process now, plus some pretty cool projects on the whiteboard. 2018 is going to be amazing, but we need to finish putting 2017 to bed first.

"...a Utility Fighter,..." Does that mean that the Utility Fighter is going to receive some modifications?

Big batches of HDFK's, oh yeah. I need to get some more pics of that thing in use, you may as well have printed a block of currency there. There is literally nothing to dislike about that knife. I could be a douche and nitpick the EDC and FK but the HDFK is quite literally the perfect do-it-all knife. I'm pretty sure you could source that design out to Rowen or whomever has a decent rep and never have to work again. Not that any of us want you to of course, we expect a lot of awesome things from you, Jo, Lorien, and Mark in the future!
