The Basic 5" Field Knife - Thoughts and Impressions

Had them on a DEK once. Maybe that helps ?

Tried to take a couple of nice shots while at the lake this past weekend, while also trying to avoid looking like a weirdo with the all my in-laws on the other side of those trees. 😬

Anyway, I’m loving this BFK. First time I’ve had Terotuf scales in hand, and although these ones are buffed they sure do feel amazing. Smooth and grippy at the same time. Awesome knife.

My wife and daughter seem to enjoy teasing and making fun of me for my on-going habit of taking so many "pics" of my various knives. = 🤡

Several years back my daughter even transposed the lyrics to a Chainsmokers song with the title being: "Let me take a Knife Shot!"

lol, cleary they identified a pattern then!

I got enough curious looks from them this time, but luckily my brother in-law enjoyed fondling it enough to forget to ask what exactly I was doing over there 😁

We don't buff TT. Just clean machining.

Nathan the Machinist Nathan the Machinist is there any difference in grind and edge angle now between the BFK and FK3? Saw a post from a few years ago in this thread where you mentioned there was, but I know the knife has changed marginally over the past few years.

2024 Magnacut BFK on left / 2021 D3V BFK on the right. The OG BFK is thicker behind the edge and especially so towards the tip. I have some numbers but I will leave that sort of sharing to Nathan.

Edit: replacing lost image. I know this was not the question and that Nathan already answered. Just nice to see IMO...

Received mine on Thursday and haven’t put it down. It’s a great knife and I’m happy I made the jump. Selling off others in preparation to acquire more CPKs. Thanks to Nathan and Jo (and others at Carothers) who make a great product.

I purchased an extra set of scales and will probably put them on this weekend.
