The Official Lanyard Thread

This is where I like to put them:
Nice pics, POCEH. I like the loops on the clips. I did a few like that a while ago, but haven't for some time. It makes for easy change-out and variety and works real well on deep-carry clips. I think I'll tie up a few like that again.

Here's one of my work EDCs. I've been doing interior trim work the last couple weeks and priming raw ends and edges as I go. I pulled my Sebenza out yesterday and realized the stock lanyard and KnifeArt bead had a generous amount of white Kilz on them. It was actually kind of amusing. I've tired of my puny CRK lanyards anyway, so I cleaned up the bead and added this one. I've been taking out the stock lanyard pins in my CRKs and just going through the holes with fresh lanyards.

This lanyard used to be on Manix 2 I sold a while back. I wasn't a huge fan of it until I switched it to my keys. LOVED it. Cant remember where I got the damascus bead. I forget its there every now and then. This thread brought back my appreciation for it :)

If one need make a case for using a lanyard pull, here's an example. From left to right in a vest pocket--ZT0452, Spyderco Southard, and Benchmade 940-1/943 Franken. The Southard has a deep carry clip added as the stock clip on that knife is just awful, but the knife would be a tough pull without the lanyard.

I don't understand a lanyard on a folding knife with a pocket clip? Is it just a fashion accessory? Or do people actually have a real world use for them?

Both. Helps pull it out of ones pocket and personally I like the look.

I bought this Inkosi with natural Micarta inlays brand new off the Exchange about a week-and-a-half ago. The seller had removed the stock lanyard and replaced it with this slitted and woven pice of leather thong. It's really simple and complements the Micarta nicely.

Here's the knife and lanyard from the OP. I like that heat-sink style bead in that original pic and it was not expensive either, but I thought it a little small for both the cord and my chunky XM18. I've also been meaning to dig through the drawers in the hardware store in search of found-object beads that would be more interesting and for sure cheaper. I made this one up out of the lamp parts drawers over in the electrical aisle.

There hasn't been anything going on over here lately, so I'll post one and see if that'll bump a little life into this thread.

I got a new Olamic Wayfarer 247 early this week and tied one on it the other day--blue-black 550 cord with another lamp part for a bead. This one's a threaded knurled connector that set me back a whopping $1.24.

Two of my favorite lanyard knots. The cobra knot and snake knot. Link for how to tie them

Thats a nice one, sph. I love the CF on your knife and I love my Inkosi too, which is just back a few. I knew I'd seen that knife and tail before. You're like me--when you get something that floats your boat, you plaster it all over BF. Nothing wrong with that either, man.

I see you have a KnifeArt bead there. Did you get your Inkosi from them? I've wondered if they add their beads to all the CRKs they sell or just the exclusives. My KA CF large 21 is at the top of the page with its fresh lanyard and KA bead.
