The Traveling Spyderco Delica. . .

Finally got a chance to upload some pics!

For those of you that don't know, North Dakota got hit with some snow the last few days, so we've been "Digging Out", which really gave Cam a taste for our great state. Here are a few shots...

Cam's first dinner here in ND:

Here's Cam checking out a view of our block after the snowplow came through last night! As you can see, some people are still busy snow blowing, especially since today is also garbage day.

And here I captured a great shot of Cam having fun playing in the Snow! Yep, he LOVES North Dakota!!!

Finally here's Cam back inside warming up after all that winter fun! Nothing like a nice fire to take the chill off, right Cam?!

Alow me to introduce you to the family members that will be showing Cam around *sunny* San Diego for the next week or two, Paps and Tuner.

Paps is a Delica 1 thats been around since 1992! He may be old but watch out, those teeth will still bite!
Tuner is about two years old and was a bit rough around the edges when new. His detent got a gentle radius and his Spydie hole needed a good chamfer. Now he’s GTG!

We’re all really excited to meet Cam, but after a longer than expected work day, introductions might have to wait until tomorrow (we’ll have to wait and see).

Paps and Tuner weren’t going to sleep until they got to meet Cam, and I’m dog tired. So without further ado:

Tomorrow we’ll start to show Cam around town. Unfortunately it’s supposed to be unusually cloudy and rainy for most of the week. Bad for Cam and the Forum; good for So Cal.

We’ll start showing the town to Cam tomorrow. Now it’s time for bed.
BTW, Cam’s scales are awesome!

Update:

In addition, there were several kind members who put their money together to purchase a replacement Delica for the stolen Mr. Brownstone. I am happy to report that I received the new Delica yesterday and am very, very grateful for the generosity of those members as well as the community at large.

A new Mr. Brownstone. Very cool. Thank you to the very generous members!!

Now what do we name the new Mr. B? Mr. Brownstone II? BJ (Brownstone Jr.)? I haven't seen any posts that bring up this conundrum. What say you?

well done guys, you made my girlfriend( who isn't into knives even a little bit) laugh so hard she had tears in her eyes.
she also told me to Cam should come here and visit the red light district in Amsterdam.

So when you guys think Cam is ready for some fine ladies hit me up ;)

Noteworthy cities are often defined by their parks. New York has Central Park. St. Louis has Forrest Park. With rainy days in the forecast, we set out for San Diego’s heart, Balboa Park.

Cam and Tuner started the visit at Inspiration Point near the Park Headquarters.

The structure was comissioned in 1922 by the US Navy and spent 65 years as the Naval Hospital Administration Building. During WW II the hospital had 10,499 beds! The current Naval Hospital is located immediately to the east. While only a few hundred feet away, one hardly notices it as it contours the slope of Florida Canyon.

From inspiration point we took the tram into the park center, Plaza de Panama.

The law enforcement presence in the park was unusually high today, probably because POTUS was in town. As such, I thought it prudent for Cam to keep his jaws closed and come out only for quick pics in passing. Folding knives, concealed or otherwise, are technically legal in San Diego. However, I would totally understand if the local constabulary felt obligated to investigate a guy publicly brandishing a blade while meticulously framing photographs of a crowded public venue. Ok. Got it.

The House of charm was built for the 1915 Panama-California Exposition. Today it houses the Mingei International Museum, a non-profit public institution that collects, conserves and exhibits folk art, craft and design.

Hahaha dude I love the caption bubbles. Very cool

The California Tower and mosaic dome were also built for the Expo, and are probably the most recognized landmark for Balboa Park. Today it houses the Museum of Man, a basically awesome anthropological showcase. You might see exhibits on ancient Egypt, cannibalism, or beerology.

iPhone depth of field is a bit limited, so you get two pics (I couldn’t decide which to post).

By now I felt I was pushing my luck, but Cam refused to leave without a pose for @knarfeng at the Air & Space museum. Something about an avitar.

I love the place. The original museum burnt down in 1978. Cam really wants to go back and enjoy the exhibits before he leaves..
Perhaps if we have time.

I work in an office. I always carry a knife. Many days it stays in my pocket, unused.
Then a day rolls around when a knife makes the difference between success and failure.
Today was one of those days, and Cam was with me.

Tactical operations began at 12:45 pm. Location: Colimas Drive-Thru, Northpark.

Our target: El Bandido.

The Bandido /banˈdēdō/ begins with rice, beans, cheese, and carne asada. A spatula wielding virtuoso then adds a chile relleno and wraps it together to make creation’s best burrito.*
Seriously, this burrito is so good that if they served it at State dinners we’d have world peace. The only problem is, eat a whole one and siesta is inevitable.

Cam saved the day! I did not fall asleep this afternoon and was able to keep my job!

* For the uninitiated, a chile relleno /ˈtʃile reˈʎeno/ is a roasted poblano pepper—I prefer Anaheim's—stuffed with jack cheese then dipped in egg batter and fried until golden brown.
