If you were only allowed to have the same three knives for the rest of your life, what would they be? To make this a much more interesting question, let's make a few more rules to the game:
  1. The knives should be new and purchaseable nowadays (that is, not discontinued years ago) from a reputable online store (BHQ, KnifeCenter, or some place like that), where you will pay the normal retail price.
  2. One of the knives must cost $0 - $70.
  3. One of the knives must cost $70.01 - $160.
  4. One of the knives must cost 160.01 - $350.
  5. Don't worry about tax and shipping for purposes of the prices.
  6. Just use regular, everyday prices; don't cheat by using massive Christmas sales.
  7. The knives should be in stock most of the time; sprint runs that sell out in 7 minutes (like the M4 Shaman) aren't allowed.
  8. Please don't break the rules; it's not as much fun if you just play however you want to play. ("Slysz Bowie, Grimsmo Rask, and Olamic Wayfarer 247!")
Let's hear your triple-choice.

Lets see, if I'm only going to have three knives, I want one multitool, one fixed and one folder. I'm going with.....
$0 to $70: Leatherman Rebar, $69.95 from KnifeCenter.
$71 to $160: Paramilitary 2, with the black S30V blade, $153 from KnifeCenter.
$161+: Esee Junglas, Venom green, $184

Instead of the Junglas, could I take two smaller Esee's, like the 3 and 4? They add up to more than $160. :) :) :) Or an Esee 4 and a fire starter kit, or something.

Cheers, numbersman

$0 - $70
Leatherman Wingman

$70.01 - $160
Benchmade Bugout

$160.01 - $350
Benchmade Mini Crooked River (from their custom shop)

I can’t speak much on the Advocate as I have not owned one. But the GB1 and GB2 have both been favorites of mine for many years.
To each his own. The GB1's liner lock was rough on my thumb (I think it was the GB1). I had a similar experience with the Advocate frame lock, but I Dremelled out a bigger thumb cut out and I weakened the lock bar a bit, which really made me like that knife so much more. I already loved the aesthetics; now the action was great, too.

0 - 70$: Civivi Baklash
71 - 160$: Spyderco Para 2
161 - 350$: Reate Crossroads (I think ~5$ over wouldn't be cheating, otherwise Reate K-2)

victorinox tinker
Spyderco Manix 2
White River Jerry Fisk Sendero

Vic super tinker

Spyderco Aqua Salt

WE Deacon

$0-70 - Cold Steel Leatherneck

Just a classic, all-around fixed blade in D2; built to survive just about anything.

$70.01-160 - Leatherman Surge w/ bit kit

I already own this one. It's handsome, performs well and is completely corrosion resistant.

Civivi Baklash
Spyderco Chaparral CF/G-10
SpydieChef

From my personal purchases, I'd put the Evo Typhoon and probably the Boos Smoke ahead of the SpydieChef, but those aren't readily available at the specified price.

S Sharperthansticks
Why can't I list knives that I already have, regardless of whether they are in stock or readily available to others?? I'm not looking for new knives, and not really up on current offerings... but I do routinely carry 3 knives (I understand your game doesn't say they should be carried together; but it doesn't make sense for me to play any other way).
