"Design Robert Beillonnet"???
Robert Beillonnet-made traditional knives are simply stamped R.B.

Let's be clear. The quality is probably on par with the price asked.
RB has already "reinterpreted" traditional designs. But then the name had been changed. Now you can get "RBD" London, Alpin, etc.
To me it is no less than a gimmick and a bit unfair to appropriate traditional patterns as "design " tends to make believe. I wonder if these "designs" have been duly patented... Probably just the name...
Something is rotten in the State of Auvergne...That's just my opinion, of course. 🤷‍♂️

Another 13 cm Laguiole made by Robert Cécon, this one has scales made from the wood of a Wild Service Tree.

An imposing Lag  Thick slabs mean a lot of handling comfort, very original type of wood too. Admire that guillochage backspring made to look like screw, worm drive coming out of the steel leading to the Fly very impressively.

Well, I felt the same when I first discovered the "Passion France" knives on their website. To a certain degree you are right, branding the knives "Roibert Beillonet Design" is kind of a cheap gimmick, meant to promote the sales of the knives, and that's what, at first, I thought to and it kind of put me off, so I never purchased one of their knives.

A few months back I bought an "original" Beillonet from the company and went to pick it up at their offices in Darmstadt, Germany. I was able to take a closer look and handle the knives. I discovered that they were of a very good quality and really well made, with an excellent price/quality ratio. The more the owner of "Passion France", Wolfgang Lantelme, is a nice person, with quite some knowledge when it comes to traditional French knives. So a few weeks back I decided to return to Darmstadt and buy a few of their knives.

I don't know about the "copyright" issues regarding the traditional patterns, but I know that Mister Lantelme and Robert Beillonet have known each other for a long time. As far as I know Robert designed the knives for "Passion France", my best guess would be that he was paid royalties but I never asked the owner about it. Wolfgang Lantelme has the "Passion France" knives made at the former Coutellerie Arto in Thiers.
