I own and use semi autos. I think combat situations are the reason for their increased popularity. For personal protection I use both but for home protection nothing beats the sound of a pump action shotgun.
I couldn't agree more but I leave mine racked as to not give them a warning,
The rack will either send them running or give away your location and make them at the ready if there not already .
But I do like the sound :D

First generation Contenders are great handguns, I had one in .22 LR with a Bushnell Phantom scope. Must have been around 1972 I guess.
