Went and sanded the handle on my WWII...

I've used pine tar soap in the past when I could find it. Smells nice and kinda fun to get white suds out of a black bar of soap.
 
Many lotions have lanolin which is the thing you really want for horn. Or you if your desparate you can use the oil from around your nose and ear, traditional way to care for ivory. Realistically there are many ways to care for horn, another way Ive been taught has been to use baby oil, which is pretty much pure mineral oil with a little fragrance.
