What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Love the knife, but don't enjoy carrying it in my pocket as much as I though I would.
Thinking of making a neck dangler sheath for it and use it on my fishing trips.
That's interesting John, I haven't really taken to neck knives, but can imagine they might be a useful set-up when fishing. Have you thought about horizontal belt carry? I hope you find a set-up you like my friend :)

I carried a brace of Ancient Barlows on my hike today. First photos are in/at an 1885 covered bridge, then a group photo. (Can you find the Cicadas?

Amazing pair of Ancients, Dean, and very cool photos!:thumbsup::cool: (I DID see the cicadas, too; I don't think my area is supposed to get the Brood X 17-year cycle variety.)

Some Queen Steel for this rainy day

Royal couple of knives for sure, Steve!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Fresh outta the mail and into my pocket...
I probably won't use it but I'll have fun carrying it!!!
Congrats on picking up what looks to be a pristine example, John!:cool::thumbsup:

Eclectic trio GT :)

Have a fine Friday folks ;) Carrying one of my Bagpipe Ebony Lambsfoot SFOs today, and an Old Friend by George Wostenholm :)

Thanks, Jack; "Eclectic" is my middle name. ;):)
Melodic piano keys twosome you posted! 🎹🎶

This is a High Carbon (Sears, pre-Craftsman, made by Camillus) cattle knife, and a SW 294 Serpentine Jack.
What used to be the spey blade is not any more, much more akin to an awl. But it is extremely sharp. For some reason, it makes me think of @r8shell.

I like that pale bone pair, Jeff!:cool::thumbsup: The "castrated" jack with the missing bollocks shield is a "conversation piece"! :D

Black Lamb and GEC #76 in Ebony for this Black Friday Carry
Dignified dark duo, John! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

Great looking knives Gary, I had that same peanut with me for the last three days. Don’t know why it isn’t in the pocket everyday. 🤔
Thanks, Todd; I've enjoyed seeing your chestnut Peanut recently. :)

Gorgeous little Peanut, GT. 🤠

Nice to see the Valley Jack still beating. ;)
...
Thanks for the support, John; Valley Jack gets 1 week out of every 8 in my pocket. :)

...

I'm carrying a couple of well-worn pearls today.

NYMoW40.jpg
That top knife is really interesting :thumbsup::cool:, with the tiny Wharncliffe blade, the MORLEY tang stamps on the right, and the pictorial tang stamps on the left. I'm assuming the 2 left tang stamps are the same image, but what is the image? Looks like a little bush with something on each leaf?

NORTHWOODS PRESIDENTIAL ... wins pocket carry today by a landslide

uLm0LzS.jpg
If I were able to get any Northwoods knife I wanted, the Presidential is what I'd go for (maybe in ebony, but that red bone is nice, too).:thumbsup::cool:

What model is your Case stockman, Her? That green bone and red shield really look good together!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

dubble poast
Jeff, I like your mastery over spell check!! :D:D:thumbsup:

Grabbed these two super slicey black composite covered jacks from the 1930s. :)
Vibrant vintage knives, JJ! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

...
I like the looks of your RR Copper Ridge pen knife, Gary; unusual and attractive.:thumbsup:
...
Fantastic Chestnut bone on your Case Peanut, Gary.:thumbsup: How many of those Chestnut Bone patterns do you have now?
...
Thanks Gary, I really like that older Boker it reminds me of The Thing on the Marvel comics, I have a small Jack with the same covers. I’ve named this one “Big Thing” and the other is “Little Thing”. 😊
I love that little peanut and the entire Chestnut CV line as well. 👍
Thanks, Dean; Rough Ryder has quite a few "copper-themed" offerings. :)
I'm drawn to the chestnut bone Case knives, but I think I've been "stuck" on 8 patterns for the past 1.5 years: Swayback Jack, Sodbuster Jr., Sowbelly stockman, Mini Trapper, Peanut, Muskrat, Teardrop Jack, and Medium stockman. I'll eventually get a full-size trapper, but probably not a folding hunter or a Cheetah. I think Case has made a canoe in chestnut jigged bone, although not as part of the most recent series, and I'd like to hunt one of those down someday.

I'm spending the day with my Case Yeller stockman with punch.

That's a fine-looking threesome Gary  :)

Thanks for the compliment, Jack. :)

Have a great weekend everyone  Back in the time-machine to visit a once-regular pairing :D ;)

Case 2138, and Schrade 175. Stagurday and Schradurday.View attachment 1572737I don’t include it much, but a Swiss Army Knife is always on me. This is a Wenger Canyon, a two layer, so it’s very slim.View attachment 1572739Have a great day.

Yes, Gary. I re-handled the TL-29. My first try at jigging bone with a Dremel. Next time, I’ll get brave, and jig a little deeper. And use less red Rit dye and more brown. Got a bit of pinkish hue in there.

I noticed your Leon Redbone link! Got to see him a few years ago at our little opera house. Great performer.
Thanks for the extra info on the TL-29 cow bone re-handle. :)
Cool that you got to see Leon Redbone; I wonder how he came up with his unique, anachronistic approach to music.

Thanks GT. Check up went ok. A1c edged very slightly up, but the Doc said she didn't need to see me for another year View attachment 1572922

The pen knife is a wonderful shorts knife. The medium jack is pretty great too and you reminded me that I hadn't carried the new red jack yet, so its today's carry :)
Used it to open today's mail call. I can't show it here though, because its not a traditional View attachment 1572924

Clean bill of health is always good!:thumbsup::cool: Enjoy your red medium jack!

I’m switchin’ the larger (3904S) for the smaller (3902S) split-back for the rest of the day, right into viewing the good ‘ole hockey game...

Sublime stag pair, Gus!! o_O:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks Gary! I think we all know the answer to that question lol
:D:thumbsup:

Not much going on here today, just watched the live feed of my niece graduating from Rose-Hulman, it was outside, looked pretty chilly there too. Have these in the pocket today.View attachment 1572935
Pair of Case classics, Todd!:cool::thumbsup: Were you aware that both the Peanut and the Texas Jack have "cult threads" on The Porch?

I miss Derrick Bohn on this Memorial Day! Carrying one of his greatest productions, IMO!
The Willamette was named after a River in a fertile Valley in Oregon!! Bill at GEC did this knife right!! I wished at the time he had offered it to me as an SFO, but I'm glad Derrick got it; a great and generous man!!
That's a wonderful knife, Charlie. I think Derrick did a great job on all the Northwoods and Scagel knives he had made. I too miss his presence among us.

We'll be celebrating my first grandson's 5th birthday today, along with remembering those American service members who died serving their country.

I'll especially remember a man I never met, who lost his life on D-Day at Normandy. My mother's Uncle Johnny.

I'll have this one in my pocket.

Well, we went down to see The Wall of Honor, a memorial to those we lost in Iraq and Afghanistan. It has been traveling the country, originating in Oregon as a high school project of two sisters.
I’m emotionally drained.
While down there, we also visited our son’s memorial, which I do whenever I visit my parents.
The memorial is currently 33 panels, with 104 names on each side. Not just names, but a photo, and brief biography.
Our son is not on there, because he lived eight years after being wounded. But, the panels are labeled by theater, and by month and year, so knowing their names and when they were killed, I was able to locate Jason’s team members. They lost four out of a sixteen man team on one horrible day. I have a photo of these young men’s tributes on the wall, but out of respect for their families, I’ve decided not to post them. That’s not my place. I drove downstate to attend the funeral of one of them after it happened in 2009 (Jason’s best friend) to represent him there, and got to briefly meet some of his family. Here’s a shot of some of my family looking at the entries for Brian, Schuyler, and Scott.View attachment 1573782They have a table set for The Missing Man, a tribute to POW/MIAs.View attachment 1573783Here’s a nice little pin they gave me.View attachment 1573784Of course, there were a lot of veterans there, many looking for the names of friends. Generally, a pretty good crowd to rub elbows with.View attachment 1573786Count your blessings, folks.
My heart is heavy for you and your family on this day my friend .

Here is a modern marvel from 1984, alongside an ancient relic from 2020:

The seemingly unused HP was a lucky thrift store find. Sadly, being a gentleman unencumbered by wealth or property, I have no use for a financial calculator, and without trig functions it is useless to me for work.
I have an old HP15C which I used during my engineering studies. Unfortunately it died a couple of years ago. 🤬

I could never relate to a standard calculator but was more than happy o discover that HP developed an App that simulates the HP15C (other versions are available as well).

The App now runs on my phone and my tablet the same as my calculator did. I‘m probably old to change habits that proved to be working for ´close to 40 years.;)

I was aware of the peanut thread but not the Jack thread, thanks Gary...now ANOTHER thread I must watch!😂😂😂

More than one dealer calls it 23057 (from memory), but it says 6347 SS on the tang. Bermuda green Rogers-jigged bone.
I like that blaze of red too. I was looking at CK for an Italian stockman, which seems not to exist, and found this. It was a good price and it was almost my birthday, so what could I do?
