Paradox. The GEC knife looks and acts the Old School part, faux Tortoise is actually very convincing & attractive., but is from 2011, the calculator?? Something from modern times.. well yes and no. It's from 1979 and still works faultlessly, I didn't want batteries (still don't that's why I've gone over to auto watches, no wasteful replacements) it's very small and does all the maths I need, Casio Made in Japan quality. and today? Most stuff is off to the landfill within a couple of years, worse luck 💩

Amir Fleschwund Amir Fleschwund Jeff, thinking of you friend, you and your family this morning. As my own Memorial Day ritual I'm sitting here and reading over the death notices of the 26 NC Guardsmen killed serving in OIF/OEF over the past 18 years, then reading over many of the Fort Bragg Soldier deaths - they go on and on - it shakes my soul as much as the first time. The price is heavy. God bless you. Bruce

Here is a modern marvel from 1984, alongside an ancient relic from 2020:

The seemingly unused HP was a lucky thrift store find. Sadly, being a gentleman unencumbered by wealth or property, I have no use for a financial calculator, and without trig functions it is useless to me for work.

I miss Derrick Bohn on this Memorial Day! Carrying one of his greatest productions, IMO!
The Willamette was named after a River in a fertile Valley in Oregon!! Bill at GEC did this knife right!! I wished at the time he had offered it to me as an SFO, but I'm glad Derrick got it; a great and generous man!! R.I.P.Willamette Stag 1.jpg
