I just received this Timex mk1 in the mail, and I am quite pleased with the watch itself.
The band looks nice with the numbered holes the stitching and the quick release pins, however it's actually a crappy manmade material with a leather veneer.
It's poorly bonded too because the top wrinkles.
Would a cheap real leather not be cheaper than having to manufacture this crap even if they have to correct the grain ?
I don't know, but I've got a couple NATO'S inbound and will replace it asap.
I'll probably use the hardware of this thing and make another out of actual leather too.
Citizen Eco-Drive. Been wearing it since 2011. Pretty beat up now with scratches all over the wrist band. It’s been to Afghanistan and back as well as some other places, no issues. At this point I’m curious to see how long it will last.
Orient "Defender" automatic; no winding, no batteries, sealed crown good to 100 meters depth and only needs minor reset once a month. Just as important for those of my age; has day/night, date and day dials.
Wore a marathon for years. 4 years ago I had a pretty serious accident that required an ambulance ride and a rebuilt wrist. Haven’t seen the Marathon since that day. Since then its been an Apple Watch, does more then I could ever need and its so common no lowlife will steal it from an unconscious bleeding guy! View attachment 1683443
New watch, the first in the line of new Seiko 5s, that I like enough to give it a try. So far I like it, although it feels big after wearing mostly 37 mm watches.
