What's that you're eating?

Yes it is.
BTW a special occasion?
La Grande Dame is a very nice bottle for sure.
And the cake looks pretty darn good too.
Thanks & yes. She made a birthday cake early, as I’ll cook cheese fondue (doesn't work with cake) for our anniversary tomorrow - happens to be the same day as my birthday, so I wouldn’t forget :)

it was and it will be even better in a couple days for leftovers! Sometimes we'll chuck the leftover pasta sauce, (I always make extra) into a ziplok and into the freezer. When the day for chili arrives, I root around the freezer and find two or three bags and BOOM! Chili!

Lunch today . . . homemade "jook" (congee) w/a quartered preserved duck egg, topped w/sliced scalions and a couple drops of seasame seed oil w/half a stick of restaurant made "jow til" (Chinese fried dough) and a glass of cheap sauv blanc on the side.

Jook just isnt the same w/o the jow til, so I bought some at a restaruant (that specializes in serving jook and "cherng fun") on my way home today.

Have some pics of a meals at a Vietnamese and Thai restaurant (that I haven't posted yet) that I ate recently but there were too many dishes/pics and the meals weren't that great. So, not sure I'm going to post them. Still thinking about it.
