What's that you're eating?

Had lunch at a local Chinese dumpling restaurant before going to a movie today. On the menu . . .

Spicy Sliced Pig Ear with Cucumber Salad:

Steamed Xiao Lung Bao:

Eaten together & washed down with a couple bottles of Chinese YanJing Beer:

It all tasted great & was quite filling. ☺️

I made my favorite cake for some family and friends. 8 layer honey pistachio cake. Sometimes I switch out the pistachio for apples. I've gotten pretty good at making a rose of out apple slices. Through trial am error, I've found the best way to keep apples from browning is to coat them in honey diluted with water. They stay bright white for days.

Head cheese or colloquially, hogshead cheese! I knew I’d find another that could appreciate the beauty…..in this fine group of miscreants. A little yellow mustard and a glass of seasonal eggnog. It’s a meal for Mt Olympus.
You lost me at the eggnog, but otherwise I'm in if you add a little soft cheese and crusty bread.

There used to be a local restaurant that would take a thick slice of terrine, fry it on a griddle and serve it on bread as a sandwich. It was divine but apparently I was the only one who ordered it. I wonder if you could do that with a headcheese, or would the gelatin just melt?

Man……now there’s an idea! Seriously going to try this tomorrow.
