Y'all might think I'm crazy, but...

Anyway, back to crazy...

The scales are shaped and the front end is identical to the stock scales (so fit in the sheath is maintained). The balance is dead nuts on the front screw.

These are WIP photos of the rough shaped scales. (For you safety minded folks, I do NOT do this work with the blade un-taped/edge exposed! That was to check the fit in the sheath and then I took some photos. The blade always stays taped up. I like my fingers left attached!)

With various grips...

Comfy in all positions. I'm not a hand model, so pardon the cracked-and-patched-with-superglue-and-sawdust fingers...

By the way, the front end is original geometry so it snaps into the sheath like the original grips.

I will check the balance of the original build but the new scales are pinpoint on the front screw.

Edit: closest I can tell is the original balances right at the front edge of the front screw head. Mine is now maybe 1/8" to 1/4" aft of that, at the center of the screw. That's balancing on a #2 pencil on the spine, edge up. So... too close to call.

When it comes to my own CPKs, I am a puritan first because I tend to collect more (way more) than I would ever be able to use. I am such a staunch originalist that even at times Nathan's own variations on the original make me go, "Hmmm!" in my own peabrain despite understanding the reasons given.

All that said, Tony, Sir; you are one heckuva artist and passionate artisan when it comes to your hobby of experimenting with wooden handle scales. I had admired your work ever since I had noticed your work on the other subforum. You have some mad-skills my friend :)
