Your 2020 Year In Review

Thes last two years far more money spent than in many years.

This year:

Brian Tighe Twist Tighe OTF $290
Heretic Manticore E $280
Spyderco Smock--which I returned
Spyderco Para 3 Spy27 lightweight can't remember price
Civivi McKenna $90
A Purvis Progeny $260
New scales, screws and clip for my PM2, which I found in bad shape, had been missing for years and found it in my dad's truck.

New hardware for my Yojimbo 2
Carbon fiber clip for my SG Spider Monkey
Deep carry clip for the Gayle Bradley

Finally got good at using the sharpmaker.

Purchased a lot of gun stuff too.
Sig Sauer P365SAS
IWI Tavor SAR customized and left handed
Sig Romeo 5 XDR predator red dot
Sightmark ultra shot M-spec (probably going to sell)
Rail upper forend for the M1 Carbine
Lots of magazines
Lots of ammo.

It's been an expensive year. But with our country losing its mind, I feel well prepared.

Busy year for me. Sitting at home means more time for this hobby. Bought a little over 100 knives, sold just under 100 knives. Best? But this pair was a great suprise, since the company folded in 1918.

only 2 for me this year, which is about right, maybe a little high these days.
a kizer mini begleiter to replace the one that my wife confiscated. this is my second EDC
and a spyderco native 5 in S35VN. will switch in with the Domino as my main EDC from time to time

After over a year break from buying, I purchased a K390 Endura which I received a couple of weeks ago, and a 204 delica that is stuck in the USPS Netherlands (not sure I will receive by end of the year at this point). USPS has been terrible and has not even sent a tracking update in 3 weeks since a label/tracking number was created. Very frustrating but I have more than enough knives to get me by until then.

Edit: The Delica was just delivered!

I really like the K390 steel so far. Probably will add a delica and a PM2 in this steel to my collection in the near future!

2020 in review: My first 2 Hinderers (Jurassic and Full-Track), a LionSteel Thrill in orange, a couple of GEC's (Eureka Jack and Possum Skinner), an LT Wright fixed blade, added a couple of Dragonfly's for SE blade swaps, and a few Case knives to round it off. Also, as I review the year I'm reminded of how much I was able to get out and enjoy my knives. That and the fact that due to school being canceled my kids (mostly my son) were able to accompany on adventures that I would have had to otherwise go solo on was the bright side of such an otherwise depressing year.

Oh, and I almost forgot, just picked up a Sebenza 31 as well!

Beautiful pictures! I need to try to take some of mine!

Ive had a pretty good year knife wise. Ordinarily I would have been at Blade Show and 2 local shows but alas that was not to be.

Instead I was able to acquire some great pieces online.
I added to my small CRK collection with a few nice Sebbies.
I won a lottery from Richard Rogers for a beautiful slippie and found a few grail customs I have been lusting after.
All in all nothing to complain about knife wise. I'm have some nice orders coming through for 2021 which I am looking very forward to.

Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year to all.;)

The Spyderco Swayback was planned and anticipated.
The Ultratech and DarnDao were impulse buys. :D
The Bradley Bowie and GB Wildlife Hatchet were somewhere in between.

I also got sick of nameless crap kitchen knives and bought a Shun starter set when I found a rock-star deal at a kitchen supply store.

Too many. Same with flashlights. I bought a bunch of Esee’s, Spyderco, Kershaw, Benchmade, a few ZTs, a couple protechs, a lot of hardware, custom scales, sheaths, etc.

2021 will be maybe 1 knife (I keep telling myself that)

Managed a few trades and sold a couple. Bought maybe one or two with the proceeds from the sales so tried not to use new funds. The goal was to reduce the herd a little, guess that one will be on 2021's list of New Year's resolutions.

This past year I bought a Spyderco Mule in LC200N and the BF 2020 Viper warncliff(which I cant locate at the moment, so I’ll hold off on pics for now).
I did forge a small skinner, my first time forging a blade from cable(and I enjoyed working with it) and spalted pecan scales.

Edit: Separate pics because my forum knife is officially temporarily misplaced, it’s probably in a special place that I won’t possibly forget about.

Wow! 100 bought and sold? Mostly slipjoints / traditionals or...?

I want,
NO, I needs me a Planet Ocean!

It is a stunner indeed. Unfortunately, I just parted with that one a couple of weeks ago. I've been toying with the idea of a 3 watch collection (3 main watches anyway) for a while now and selling this one was the one that finally got me down to it. The thing is, I haven't missed any of the others I sold this year, but this one is giving me just a tinge of regret. We'll see when this summer rolls around. Oh well, I experienced owning it for 4 years, sold it for what I had in it, and on the bright side I was able to help some family members during the holidays with the funds from the sale .

In similar fashion to OP, I was tremendously fortunate that I wasn't impacted by COVID so my purchasing was more or less normal. That said, I bought an excessive amount of knives this year as deals presented themselves, and specifically my GEC collection flew entirely out of control. I also picked up plenty of others, and honestly, I don't know that I could even list them all out without doing a lot of searching through pictures on my phone and some of the threads here. :D

Having awesome knives and being able to see and hold them definitely kept my spirits up during this trying year.

A little of everything. This month I've sold 3-4 custom fixed blades, an auto, and about 20 slipjoints. I've bought about a dozen slipjoints (most pre-1970), 2-3 vintage autos, and a couple customs. I try real hard to make it an even money game. Pre-covid I could do a lot better, just hitting estate sales, but you have to be lucky. Plus there's a bunch of other collectors out there doing the same thing. You get tired of hearing that the guy who just left took them all.
