Your newest addition:traditionals of course!

Fell out of the mailbox on the way to town - just opened about an hour ago and took a few pictures. It's now in my pocket for an indefinite carry time. Checked out the construction - seems to be simple pins drilled out and tapped for torque screws. The knife is solid - no drips, runs, cracks, gaps, etc. with no blade wiggle up, down, sideways, or any other way. The burlap micarta covers feel good in the hand with a grippy feel. Glad I got two of them - jeez!!!! I like buying in tows. The Green Day Glow G-10 liners are a hoot. Edited to add: the S35VN blade is perfectly centered and as sharp as blue blazes.

Nice trio. That PB&J grows on ya!

So I'm not as versed in case. This one is 06244, I'm not sure what that 0 is but I've heard 6 is just "jigged", could be delrin/bone/wood.

When I Google that pattern 1975 I find some bone some delrin, I just think there's not enough character in this to call it bone.

Either way it's a nice little pen blade, good church or backup carry on a light day.

I believe you’re correct about suspecting it’s Delrin. Around 1974 Case started to put an oval around the word “Case” within the shield to denote it was bone. If it was Delrin, there is no oval around the word “Case.” I’m sure there were some exceptions. Either way it’s a beautiful knife 👍 See example below with the oval.

This is a good tip I hadn't heard before, thank you!! I was looking for a good way to try to figure these out without getting them in hand

NKE! (New Knife Evening). Boy did I rush home for this one!

There’s plenty of ideas on the origins of these Sunfish/Elephant Toe knives, the one I’m going with, as you can probably tell from my photo, is the old timey Carpenter’s Knife. I think GECs interpretation here with the honking Sheepfoot blade makes it even more suited to such tasks.

Now to find me some old Dungarees….

New Barlow - Indian Paint Brush.

Im happy with it. I like the pile side better, there is more orange and the jigging doesn't catch the bolster. In the sunlight, the lighter parts really pop. I like the "arrowhead" engraving instead of having a shield.

The grind on both blades looks like it was done on "bring your kid to work" day 😂, but I'll clean that up a bit.

I visited a former neighbor and lifelong acquaintance in the hospital the other day, and found out something about him I either never knew, or had forgotten - that he was something of a knife collector. Bowie knives, mainly, but he said he always carried a pocket knife, until his condition got to the point where he couldn’t anymore. Anyway, he said “If I saw a knife I liked, I just bought it.”

I decided to adopt that attitude for a day, at least, and splurged on two knives:

I knew I was taking a risk, based on my previous experience with a Bear & Son stockman, but I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of both of these. The Barlow came pretty dull but is otherwise fine, and the stockman is much, much better than the walnut one I got before.

How's the pull on your Barlow? That was my only issue with the one I had, it was very light. Maybe a 4.
