Hawaii Knife Life - daily use for work and play

Oldest son and I made a short meat hunt this morning.

Lots of these Heiau sites and stone walls created many, many years ago. This one runs almost a mile and a half.

Get some music going, and get to work. Average sized and young spike...perfect for meat.

One of my favorite hunting knives, Becker BK16 in a TOPS sheath.

Stripped, thinned tip, convexed, with small edge bevel. Cuts like a demon!

He is getting pretty good at this. A couple of guides have asked him if he would work for them, but he knows better than that. Deer was a gift to the People, and a resource not to be sold. It is to be given.

He prefers his 119, as he is so used to it. I always hand him a different knife to try, but always declines and sticks with his Buck.

Enjoying the shade and company.

G-Shock for today. The large display on this model is great for my aging eyes.

Congratulations on a successful hunt.
Good for your son knowing what is right. Also good for him for sticking with what he likes and is comfortable using

Thank you, I appreciate that.

Ever since I gifted that 119 to him, he has put some serious miles on it.

It has been quite enjoyable watching him progress over the years in his skill in butchering game. He loves that knife too!

Birds are eating up way too many seedlings. Used this Leatherman Bond to access the panel and set up this new propane cannon.

Cold Steel Bush Ranger is just a really comfortable knife to use.

I learned that Citizen EcoDrive watches need a good and extended dose of light to get a good charge. Big fan of these!

Some more deer meat, this time my youngest daughter got this. Very grateful to have access to nutritious wild meat. KAI kitchen knife on duty.

Just a quick shot of a rainbow on my daily hike.

I am at the age where a good four or five mile walk is not only good for the body, but good for the soul as well.

I really enjoy this site and it's members!

Went to the beach after church today. I love Hawaii winters. Cool temps, rain, and rough surf.

AD10 in the pocket today.

Doing some nursery work, and thought I would share a common set up.

Mesh apron. Cooler to wear than canvas, and dries faster. Multiple pockets for tassel bags, shoot bags, paper clips, extra staples, pens, sharpies, colored tags for phenotype notes, and a leather holster for the clippers, so they don't poke through and trim your nuts.

😁

I order and go through many, many types of clippers. Between myself and my crew probably thousands over the years.

So far, these are the only brand that has lasted more than one season, and still remain fairly low priced (under 50 bucks).

I like these Ace plier staplers, but also use Bostich as well. These seem to last longer, but the Bostich P3 is smaller and easier for the ladies on the crew to use.

A grease pencil is your friend when writing outdoors, and needing the writing to stay visible despite being in the sun and rain.
