The day has finally arrived. KA-BAR is pleased to announce a new chapter in the Ek Commando Knife Co. history with the release of the KA-BAR Ek Model 4. For more information on Ek Commando Knives or to purchase visit EkKnives.com. The video below isn't bad, either. Thanks for your patience.

Exacting news and much sooner than expected! Will this be a limited run, or regular production?
Thank-you!

Outstanding,

May it be profitable for you guys and rewarding for your customers.

I'm a model 5 Bowie guy too.
As long as we're deaming. Make mine with walnut slabs and brass hardware. I missed that one the first few times around.

Best of luck with the new venture.

It is regular production. We only release products now as they are readily available. There will be more models coming out in the future.

Glory be!
It's here at last!!!
It's fitting that the model 4 be first of the horde of war steel.
I am liking what i see.
Only a little sad that the brass guard is gone...
But its a rush to see all the rest is faithfully reproduced.
And what a great addition having a non leather sheath
As standard production.
Can't wait to see what unfolds next.
Great work!

Awesome knife and awesome video! I like the look of the classics, but this modern version is well done. What's the steel on that piece?

Website says "This updated version of the old jungle fighting knife is made from 1095 Cro-Van and features a parkerized double-edged blade, textured glass-filled nylon handles and traditional X-head fasteners. A US-made Celcon® sheath with retaining strap, self-locking function and multiple tie-down points is also included. Made in the USA."

Cool!
But the grind and the guard are different than what i was expecting. So according to the pics in the video it is mimicking the original world war II style? Are they going to introduce models that mimic the grind/guard of the later more contemporary Eks?

Good to see the No. 4 KaBar version out. I suspect a person might not want to carry this particular knife in NYC. I have one of the EK bowies from the 90's. It was one of my very first "survival" knives.

I wonder is the nylon portion with the strap could be removed and still have a functional sheath. I usually like a more minimalist type sheath. Otherwise looks really cool.

Definitely.
Or, just put something stiff in there and it works great like what a lot of people have done with the larger Becker sheaths.
