I listen to a lot of history audiobooks at work. It's mostly background noise while I work but every once in a while something sinks in. One recent book recounted a story about a battle in Paris during the Reformation. Some enemy force was marching on the city so the Mayor or some other local leader recruited a militia made up of butchers in the city's defence. Not only did they come with their own weapons but they were inured to the sights, sounds and smells of slaughter.French commoners in the middle ages carried essentially a huge butcher knife as their eating and fighting knife.
So the story goes.
You're in for a major treat!^
Wow! Off to look for Anders Hogstrom knives.
