The "Whatever" Thread

Sitting here with my eyes almost swollen shut and itching like crazy. Had an allergic reaction from working with rosewood, first time ordering it from a different supplier, won't make that mistake again!

That should teach you to stay on the safer side and always wear goggles and a dust mask. Didn't you have an episode with the Bacoate one time, or some type of wood? The Benadryl will take care of that for you, it'll just take awhile to kick in, and your just going to want to sleep or nap for the afternoon. Good luck with that problem. Hope everything works out well for you. Take care.

ranitidine is a type 2 histamine blocker and can be taken alongside benadryl with no adverse effects -- but they work well together to reduce your reaction quicker.
I take it when I get into poison ivy and it seems to help me heal up faster and with less spreading of the rash.

Most of my adult life I've had issues with allergies. For years I used over the counter medication daily to the point I felt like I couldn't get through a normal day without it. A few years ago I went to a specialist and the change in my life is amazing. Within hours of my second visit I saw improvement. I now get shots weekly and use a steroid rinse in my sinuses daily. I cannot remember the last time I had swollen eyes, sneezing fits, scratchy swollen throat, or congestion. I never realized how poor my sense of smell was til it returned to normal. I wish I had been smart enough years ago to have made the right decision. Work is still my worst problem. I wear a respirator when required but I often find myself in an area where I know I should be wearing one.

All right John. Time to start wearing the level 4 hazmat suit with the positive air pressure and decom showers before getting out of it.

So, Cocobolo, Rosewood and G10 are no goes for handle material.Check.
Bummer that you have to go through the misery to find out about your reaction to these materials, but at least it wasn't worse.

No surprise on rosewood if you had previously had a reaction with cocobolo. Don't overdo it John, don't want to see another thread with you in the hospital!

My dad invited the family out to go fishing, my daughter and I took him up on it. The weather ended up not being the best but my daughter got her first boat ride, caught her first fish. All in all a good time, hopefully we can go back when the weather is better.

What great pics and an adorable little girl. One of the things I really enjoy on this forum are the glimpses of little things others are used to seeing. Things that are so different from my home. Thanks for posting the pics:thumbup:

good deal!
although I have to admit, the fish in your first picture is awful funny looking!

Awesome day!

I seen the little gator, catfish and pelicans and I had to do a double take on where your located. :p

not too far from you, Southeast Texas, Trinity Bay.
Was actually 2 days, drove down and camped, fished off the pier the first evening and went out in the boat the next morning. It was just really windy and the bay was choppy and muddy

Thanks for sharing the trip pics, I am beginning to appreciate how nice little trips can be relaxing or just to catch your breath. Keep them coming. Makes my day to see them.:D
