Congrats on the successful maiden voyage of your boat, Tom!I launched my boat for the first time this morning, at the dock and boat ramp on Seneca Creek. After paddling up and down the creek for a while to test things out, I ventured out into the Potomac a little ways.

The boat would be better suited to oar propulsion, but it still paddled OK once I got a rhythm going and figured out how it handled. It didn’t leak at all, and was easier to load, unload, launch, and retrieve than I had feared it would be - although it is still something of a handful for one person.
The weather report said cloudy with periods of rain, so I didn’t go back for my hat when I found I had forgotten it. Listening to the weather man and boating without a hat were two mistakes I should know better than to make![]()
Thanks!Congrats on the successful maiden voyage of your boat, Tom!
I've been wondering what the status of your boat-building project was, but I didn't want to make a pest of myself by repeatedly asking about it, and I figured there was a good chance I had simply missed any updates you posted. So I was happy to just stumble upon it tonight in this thread that I seldom make time to read.
Looks good, and I'm glad to read that it was easier to load and unload than you expected.

And let the fun begin my friend . Sounds like the Launch was successful .I launched my boat for the first time this morning, at the dock and boat ramp on Seneca Creek. After paddling up and down the creek for a while to test things out, I ventured out into the Potomac a little ways.

A green heron flew right past me while I was out paddling yesterday - maybe the bird just named it for me?
