After Sale Lounge

Wow, cell phone didn’t like that. Great refresh, opened the thread with no replies and went to the bottom of the page and there was no box for me to enter text, just a button that said post reply. Had to refresh again which drops me way down here. Oh well, did all I could!

Yeah man, I was served the same cold shit plate and I lapped it all up willingly. No complaints though (other than getting too old for this game, it appears). Well done to all those who scored, specially seems that some of our denizen leather meisters also managed to get in.

As expected, the internet broke. I caught the refresh right; but opening the thread got me a MOAL that turned into an error message. 3 pages of posts by the time I recovered.
I was sleeping so well when the alarm went off, too...

It did basically the same thing to me but it only held me up for about 3 or 4 seconds. But 3 or 4 seconds is almost a lifetime on this Friday sale. I was surprised that I placed as well as I did!

Love your knives, hate the way you sell them. I guess it's better than the SURVIVE! the business model of taking your money and in 4 years give you a knife but Jesus this seems to lend itself to the same few guys grabbing up all the interesting knives.

This caught my eyes in the sales thread and although Nathan has addressed it, #stillnotnathan has not though :D

First of all, screw those scoundrels at S!K. I can tell you this because I was one of the thick headed ones who used to defend them and ended up losing some invaluable social capital in certain parts of this site. I can tell you that putting them in the same breath as CPK, even as a way to show one's frustration is a very unfair way of expressing the frustration!

Secondly, I think that Nathan handled this one very, very fairly. I mean 40 of them, really gave everyone a very good chance. However, I like many other dear friends on here got skunked because I think that the site is unable to handle the bottleneck demand when Nathan runs bellwether sales of a new pattern. It really has a lot to do with luck and how the server communicates with the server, cell and device which is being used for this the of sale.

Does Nathan enjoy seeing some of his sales break the proverbial Internet? I dunno about him but if I had to bet, I'd say heck why not? I know that I would if I had his talents, experience, know-how, operation, set up and could come up with the kinda stuff which he comes up with. But then again, I can be an evil #stillnotnathan :p

Agreed.
@halm When there's a limited supply, and so many people that want them; there's no way to sell that will keep everybody happy.
Even if he stayed quiet about his projects until he had 250 ready to go, then promoted the model for a month or two before selling; there would still be people unhappy that they missed out. His past several releases have included preorders, in addition to regular sales; and there have still been people left unhappy because they didn't get one (despite the slow pace of the sales toward the end of the run).
The boot daggers were a side project, known as a limited quantity from the start. Daggers are my weakness, and I didn't come close enough to even bother posting in the thread today. I didn't get butthurt and lash out at Nathan...I told myself there's at least one more sale coming, reminded myself it's just a knife (one I can't legally carry, at that), thought about all the other things I need to shell out $$ for, and went back to bed.

Ain’t this the truth ^^^ I mean I very rarely get in on Friday sales. I had to refresh twice ! My screen turned whiteout ! Then BAM there it was ! Quick fingers and hit post !!! How it worked I’ll never know lol.

As much as I wanted to score today I am cool about coming up empty handed. Aside from the Shiv and a few of the earlier steel offerings , I have never had problems scoring a desired CPK on the Exchange. My feeling is some of these daggers will be offered up on the exchange and at reasonsble prices. There are only a few basic configurations and some guys might just want to kick the tires and release thiers into the wild, finding a boot dagger knife less practical for their needs (at least I am counting on it).

Same experience here. First time I’ve seen that kind of error.

Yup, it happens. I took a look down that list and I saw some guys falling well short whereas in many prior sales, these very same guys were smoking and blazingly fast and therefore I know that it is the fudged up servers with this newly formatted BF.com (I forgot as to when they updated the site but it has been detrimental to my cause of scoring well ever since!). I know that Nathan reads every post so my beef purely for self-serving purposes is his decision to post in the general Knifemakers section which causes this tremendous negative effect for some of us but then again, the bottleneck is not on him. As #stillnotnathan, I would just run it here in the sub because that way, the selfish me stands modicum of a chance :D

I told the fam starting on Monday that I needed to be on the PC at 3 on Friday...no ifs ands or buts. I don't even bother trying to use my phone or the laptop for these sales. The PC is hardwired to the router and has the best speed. And I still haven't had much luck, but worked out perfect today.

Per usual, I was on the road for work. Being in the country, when I saw 3-4 bars on my phone I snatched it over into someone’s front yard, proceeded to absorb many a curious look (even got a honk from a school bus driver bc he couldn’t swing the turn behind me) while I waited the last 7 minutes and then...66th-ish!!
