Any Winkler fans?

I had a Belt knife but found it ground too thick for my liking. I like the looks of the Field Knife and the Crusher, but don't want to sink that much $$ and be disappointed.
If you didn’t like the Belt Knife, doubt you’ll like the Crusher.

The difference between the two is the handle, not the blade.

Yes. Almost all of mine are either rubber, and Burlap Micarta... with a few black or tan micarta.

My favorites are the Recon, Field, and Operator Knives. My favorite axe is the Legacy, and Ranger.

Holy.
Buckets.

An Operator, a Field knife, and a Hammer/Combat axe. I do intend to obtain more. Maybe even something that doesn’t have a maple handle 😊.

I have a Caswell Field, beautiful looking knife, but the ultra thin handle, for me, is impossible to utilize. I would sell it if I could…

Wow man! Very nice. You waited almost 10 yrs to drop that bomb of a first post?!

Are you a pro cyclist (domestique)?
Lol, good catch on the name. No, I was a VERY amateur collegiate cyclist, nothing more.

Truth be told, I wasn't a knife guy until COVID happened (then the ammo dried up). All those Winklers have been bought over the last year with hospital overtime money (Respiratory Therapist).

D domestique - nice collection. You should pick up some Winkler-Williams collaborations too. \

Since you have a broad selection of Winklers, which one is the best CUTTER? I had a Belt knife but found it ground too thick for my liking. I like the looks of the Field Knife and the Crusher, but don't want to sink that much $$ and be disappointed.

Depends on what you want to be cutting. The Crusher is just a belt knife. I believe the Field knife is just as thick. For EDC, I really am a fan of the Operator. In talking with other Winkler fans, a lot of them put a a sharper micro edge (20 degrees) on their blades. Some of mine came from the factory close to 25 degrees. I've also found the older knives to come from the factory sharper then the current models. I have one Crusher that I still need to work an edge on. It came from the factory dull, and doesn't shave hair at all.

The Tad Belt knife-LT is a thinner version of the regular belt knife (it's also 3V), that is a very nice slicer..... My favorite Winkler is the Recon though (sadly discontinued).

Other options are the Josh Smith collabs that he did with WInkler (Pathfinder, Jaegar, and Everycarry), those would be nice slicing knives. Check Blade Gallery to see what they have left.

The Contingency is my favorite fidget knife and my fixed EDC carry for a long time
Didn't like as much the Operator but it's a good looking knife for sure :)

The Operator is a great EDC knife when you are around non-knife people IMHO. I.e. you could whip it out at a restaurant to cut your steak, and I don't think anyone would blink. Winkler makes an all Kydex sheath for the Operator that is much smaller and not as wide was their leather. I really want to pick one of those up for pocket carry.

List it here on the Exchange, I’m sure someone will buy it.

My relatively new Operator was beveled right on the button at 25 degrees.

Would love to get my grubbies on a Camp Knife. I’ve heard nothing but good about them.

Respiratory Therapist? Damn man...thank you for your service! 😷

For you Operator owners, how is the grind/edge angle on the Operator? Same thick edge as the Belt knife?

LOVE my Winklers........have been lucky enough to collect several of them. The Hunter is my favorite, but I haven't been able to find one yet.

Most Winklers are designed for the "heavy duty" side of duty... wish they would make more fixed blades in .156" (5/32) stock. That would make me buy a Belt Knife or a Field Knife... over the years I've just moved away from 0.2"+ knives. These days I even find 3/16" too much!
