Beckerhead firearms

I really like my Ruger but that Smith looks nice. You are right should be accurate and perfect for learning.
Enjoy.

Amanda and I went out shooting today with a buddy of mine. I planned to take more pictures and some video, but we were too busy shooting...

Pietta 1873 single action .357 magnum. $367 out the door and for that price it feels like a dang nice gun. Trigger ain't bad takeup is very close to nonexistant, some over travel that's not very noticeable and a clean break that's a bit heavy for a single action. The trigger face is very narrow and offset to one side which I guess is how the originals were. Not a deal breaker but I don't care for it. The small holes in the large cylinder make the gun pretty heavy, it even makes my Ruger GP100 look and feel svelte. Despite this it still feels lively and points well and recoil should be manageable even with the 180grn Mack truck loads I carry in the woods. This gun does have a transfer bar so it is safe to carry fully loaded. The overall fit and finish is quite good. Visually I can see a few places on the grips where they don't fit perfectly however I can't feel any proud spots or gaps on the grip which is the important thing. Most ruger's I've seen don't have grip panels that fit this well. The panels are also blind so there's no visible retention to them, another feature I like. Range is closed today so I'll have to wait until the weekend to shoot it.

They work well together. I look forward to using the revolver during reenactments :D

I would like to get into BP some time, but there's too many cartridge guns I need. I've been eyeballing some cartridge conversion replicas.

.
Went though a total of 350 rounds of ammo in about an hour.

Not sure when this happened

Nice collection of wheel guns! I'm guessing GP100, SP101, Uberti & S&W 686?

350 rounds of .357 will chew up your hands. I did a two day training course this past summer, and shooting only 250ish rounds of 9mm gave me blisters. You put a lot of lead down range in an hour!

You're 2 out of 4. The Smith is a 625 (.45acp) and the single action is a Pietta in .357 mag (see post #603 in this thread). You would think .45acp in a Smith N-frame would be a soft shooter but you would be surprised. I need to get different grips for it. I had 150 rounds of .45 in moon clips and I burned through that in no time, it's an awful lot of fun.

I'll share my current favorite rifle, and this past season's go to deer rifle:

Remington 700 Classic chambered in 6.5x55 Swedish.

Until I have some free time to work up a hand load, I've been shooting Prvi 139 grain soft points. This rifle will keep them around 1.3 MOA at 100 yards off a bench. I'm sure a good hand load (and a better shooter) can do better from this rifle, but it's plenty of accuracy for hunting.

I shot 3 deer this past season, and all of them were DRT.

Just ordered an Aimpoint PRO and a set of Magpul furniture for my Ruger AR556.

Pics when everything is installed.

Jeremy

I have magpul stuff on my AR but the carbine handguard doesn't have enough space for my taste. Think I need an extended rail. Need to get a PRO too.

Ordered a stock for my Rossi Tuffy off eprey. The stubby stock with the storage compartment is cool but something I can actually shoulder will be much more practical.

I went with the Magpul MOE Sl line. The hand guard extends further than the old MOE.

I hope that gives me enough room. The stock hand guard feels small and the Magpul hand guard was cheaper than free floating.

Jeremy

I have the regular MOE but the SL wouldn't suit my desires either. I'm a large guy and I like to run a vert grip kinda far forward and a light just forward of that where I can activate it with my support thumb.

I have a Zhukov on my AK and it's about the right length for me.

Two more I just picked up today. Rossi 12ga pre-lock and a Mossberg 183kc .410 bolt action with adjustable choke.

Found a couple nice H&R's but I already had exact clones of each, prices were fair but not screaming deals so I passed for now. Same shop also had a Mossberg 20ga version of the .410 bolt action I picked up so I might go back for that on payday. Then I'd have a trifecta of mossberg bolt actions, 12, 20, and .410.

Another nice score bigghoss!

I had a chance to try out a CZ 75 Tactical Sport today. Holy crap, that is one nice shooting pistol.

Jeremy

Made the decision to go back and buy the Mossberg 20ga bolt gun and the two H&R's but the guy was closed today to set up for an NRA banquet. Guess I'll go Monday. Gotta snatch up all the H&R's while they're available. Doubt they'll ever dry up but they're not expensive so might as well stack 'em deep while I can. Plus there's a dozen different way to set them up and I got spare stocks and such laying around.
