Beckerhead Knife Making and Modification Thread

lucky for me and my pocketbook they don't make a straight peen -- and their diagonal peen is backwards!
I need to build a power hammer or a hydraulic press.

Sam totally makes a straight peen - might not be on the web store, but I've seen pix on IG.
If you want a lefty diagonal, I'm sure he'd make one for you! :D

Now that I've got the cross, I want the straight for drawing. Recommendations were for the cross for versatility, but drawing is a little more awkward with it. And a dog's head. Have to have a dog's head for forging bevels. Duh. :p

Between 5 pairs of tongs and 4 hammers I should be able to make SOMETHING.
Ok, two more fancy hammers is my stretch goal.
Sell a knife, buy a hammer. That's the plan. :D

when we had our hammer-in down here a month or so ago, one of the guys brought a 2-sided diagonal -- it was ambidextrous!

New Job has slowed me down, but I'm still working!

Forgotten Puronvarsi blades now will get their handles and sheaths. This particular blade is shortened to 110mm, the spine straightened and satin finished to 1000 grit. Handle is ebony and padauk with brass bolsters. These blades are extremely sharp and hold their edge and are too nice to be forgotten. I have six and will finish them with different style handles. Then I will get back to my own blades.

I finished the Puronvarsi based puukko this evening. 110mm 1000x satin blade, .188 brass bolsters, padauk handle with ebony and redheart accents. I will post better photos tomorrow.

Very nice sir.
