BladeForums 2024 Traditional Knife

I made an odd shoe-like slip for BF91.

Thank you, sir!

The pic below shows how she nestles in there. A pull on the lanyard draws back the hood for easy access.

Nice setup, I have to have a pocket clip on my slips,I can't have it at the bottom of my pocket, and some pockets are shallow and loose just asking me to lose everything.

I've found that the majority of my pants fit such that if I put the knife towards the rear of my pocket and let the lanyard hang out, it'll pretty much stay in place. Just gotta grab the lanyard to remove the whole affair. The lanyard is very chunky (5mm round leather cord) so easy to find and grab even in less then ideal conditions.

That said, it's hard to beat a good clip - I just haven't developed the skills to add one yet!! 😂

I'm just going to live with mine as it came. Darker than some but light none-the-less. Putrid Tan would be my name for the color.

Yes, we all saw the introductory/mock up pictures before ordering so we knew what was in the tube before they came. I got in on the $250.00 pre-order price but many had to pay the inflated $300.00 price. That higher, inflated, price kept, I think, many from buying. Maybe Kevin Spark Spark will have to put on a fire sale at the $250.00 price to move the remainder. Anyway mine lives in it's tube, which lives in a prescription bottle.

Mine was very light too, and I was going to dye it dark red, but decided to dye it dark brown, more like what it probably should have been in the first place. I used Fiebings dark brown leather dye, which is an alcohol based dye. The process is simple. Use a q tip, and paint the dye on the center section. Wipe up any excess off of the light end areas. Let that dry for several hours, and reapply. I dyed this one 3 times. The bone is so dense, that it probably won't last this way forever, but it is so simple to reapply, it can always look like this. After the last coat, I let it dry overnight, and then buffed with a soft cloth to remove any dye left sitting on the surface. Then apply Renaissance wax. The wax helps protect the dye from faster wear in the pocket or slip. Attached are the before and after photos.IMG_2422.jpgIMG_2420.jpgIMG_2423.jpgIMG_2421.jpg
