BladeForums 2024 Traditional Knife

Mine was very light too, and I was going to dye it dark red, but decided to dye it dark brown, more like what it probably should have been in the first place. I used Fiebings dark brown leather dye, which is an alcohol based dye. The process is simple. Use a q tip, and paint the dye on the center section. Wipe up any excess off of the light end areas. Let that dry for several hours, and reapply. I dyed this one 3 times. The bone is so dense, that it probably won't last this way forever, but it is so simple to reapply, it can always look like this. After the last coat, I let it dry overnight, and then buffed with a soft cloth to remove any dye left sitting on the surface. Then apply Renaissance wax. The wax helps protect the dye from faster wear in the pocket or slip. Looks great! Thank you for the nice and simple guide. I've got to get to mine one of these days.

Better something than nothing, right?

Spark knows what he paid, including shipping and his time unpacking, sorting, overhead, etc. So he knows at what price it is no longer worth his time and effort to offer these special runs. I'm not privy to the information, but I know marking them down to cost or below just to move them out leaves a bad taste in the mouth of a business owner, and increases the likelihood of this being the last one.

I think with a different color choice on the handles, the speculators and flippers would have cleaned him out by now. Just my opinion, of course.

Thanks for the dyeing info, much easier than the path i took for my first re-dye job. Much appreciated.   🤝🥰

I don't get on much and hadn't kept up with this one, but dang, $300 and it's that? Looks like it's about as simple as it could be with a terrible dye job. I feel like the forum knives used to be decked out. Punches, bottle openers, beautiful covers, match strike long pulls, like a little kid with a grab bag of everything you want on an knife. Seems like maybe it's time to let this idea die.
