BladeForums 2024 Traditional Knife

Some hacking is automated so there is not an actual brain attached to these actions, which means things don't always make sense.

Possible that some automation associated your post here with purchases from Spark's company and just went for it, with no human-level reasoning attached.

Also, though nobody seems to realize it, the US is under an extreme level of cyberattack from China, Russia, Iran, N. Korea, and tons of non-state actors. It's never been like it's been in the last, say, 10 years.

So, it's possible that some automated scam has been put into motion by one of these state or non-state actors and you got zinged by it. Who knows.

In any case, no need to take anything personally.

My assumption is that I was billed in error for someone else's knife.....I have sent a message through the contact portal here to try to find out what's going on.

I don't meet either requirement listed to be even able to order one of these knives.
I'd advise you to start a thread, tagging Spark in the tech support forum. You're likely to get a quicker answer that way.

I think the direct message to Spark should be enough for the time being but I'll certainly keep this in mind. Thanks. :)

12 Bravo just charged my PayPal $250 for this knife.....can anyone tell me what's going on here? I didn't order one and PayPal is saying I'm responsible for it for some reason....has your account been hacked? I just paid for membership last week and now I'm being billed for $250 and PayPal says they won't cancel it.
Also, just as a note, you've opened yourself up to the possibility for being scammed yourself, though I don't believe this is what's going on here.
Scammers are using posted email addresses to reach out to individuals directly, pretending to be forum members from sales threads.
you've posted your email at least two times in sales threads.
r*******ter@y***o.com

The only way someone could be trying to steal your money would be if they used your PayPal to purchase a knife here and have it sent elsewhere.
I'm sure Spark Spark can confirm the shipping address that was used.

The Paypal notification you got by email should have a transaction ID and a shipping address listed. If it doesn't, it might be a scam trying to get you to reveal information to whoever actually sent that email.
There should be a notification at the bottom of the Paypal message that says this-
Issues with this transaction?
You have 180 days from the date of the transaction to open a dispute in the Resolution Center.
Don't reply using any links in the email, contact Paypal directly.

I have a 4 3/8 Case Classic stockman built by Queen in the Bill era. I’m assuming the BF knife will be almost the same knife.

Wowzer it’s big.

Pics are with a Schrade 4” stockman.

Thanks for the comparison pics, it gives a good idea of what the size should be.
Nice pair btw👍

Jon, I was reading some of the shield 'jest' comments above, and I was thinking a CASE oval (without the CASE stamp) would be very good looking on this Large Stockman - boom, you post a picture! Confirms it in my mind. OH

Good point....I went back to my PayPal and the shipping address is my address. There is a transaction ID number as well and I provided that to Spark in a direct message. I have not heard back yet. I've talked to PayPal and they say there's nothing I can do since I authorized 12Bravo to take money from my account ($10 for membership last week) as that means I created an agreement to allow 12Bravo to withdraw money from my PayPal account....of course, this is a rather alarming thing to learn.

This is looking like it's a mistake with billing from this site for a knife I did not order rather than a scam as the knife would be delivered to me. I'm sure that the owners here will take care of this.

I also never follow links in emails....I always go directly to my accounts when I get emails about financials. :)

Yeah, it is big, but that size fits fine in the back pocket of my normal daily wear carpenter jeans and could be a great woods knife! And, of course, we all know the quality will be above and beyond!

So my question is, not that I’m doubting your word per se, how did you find this thread to post about your dilemma?

For the record, this is a legit site and a great place to talk about knives, and not a place where the business model is to force members to buy expensive cutlery they don’t want. :)

I don’t know if I’ll ever carry this knife but I have a big ol’ Case 6375 that my dad used to carry every day so it’s not beyond the realm of possibility!

Could very well be a phishing email that looks like "12 Bravo or bladeforums" is billing you which would be trying to phish your paypal account.

Make sure you all have 2 factor authentication on and always make sure you read who the email is actually from.

Oh, I fully expect that there is something strange going on and not the product of a disreputable site. I've been a member here for a long time and it's where I learned about Busse and some great knife makers. I've used the site almost solely for purchasing great knives.

To answer your question, I found this thread by clicking on the link in the box that appeared at the top of the page when I log in. Recently this preorder box has appeared at the top of every page when I visit BladeForums. When I received the alert from PayPal this morning that money had been removed from my account, I Googled 12Bravo and the "item" listed in the PayPal notice "BFC 2024 Traditional Knife." It led me back here and, for the first time, I paid attention to the preorder box at the top of the page. It became clear that the withdrawl from my account was due to this preorder.

There is something VERY strange going on here and I don't at all think it's anything more than a mistake or the strangest 3rd party scam I've ever come across.

While I was typing this, PayPal has actually ruled in my favor with my appeal and has refunded the money removed from my account. I hope this gets squared away here as it honestly seems to me like someone ordered the knife and it somehow was charged to me. How does that happen? I have no idea....but little makes sense with this right now.

It's not fishing....I've been on the phone with PayPal and the money was withdrawn. I NEVER will follow a link in an Email to any of my accounts. Ever...ever...;)

Oh absolutely. I'm no stranger to carrying a larger knife like the Buck 110, GEC #97, Remington 4243, ect. So this one is right up my alley. I've actually found a brand of pants that have an abnormally large "watch pocket", as in able to fit a 4 to 5 inch folder there.
I'm eager to see the final form! I know Spark & GEC never disappoint! 😉

You authorized the vendor to make a $10 withdrawal. You didn't authorize any further transactions so you should be able to dispute it. Using Paypal in no way gives the vendor carte blanche to make charges against your card without your permission. If your Paypal account is connected through a debit or credit card, you can also open a dispute with whoever issued the card.
