Cabin Visit

Fried in bacon grease, yep.

Yeah, totally righteous pix, Dubz! Love what you've done with those vintage stoves.
Yup, that shiny ricasso shot is sweet. :D

Johnny, that's a 6" from-scratch Au Kephart (AuK6) in 0.165" thick 1084. I was very curious how the longer blade and extended ricasso would work with man-sized mitts like Dubz's.

Very nice looking place yall got there.
Daizees blade sure looks nice, glad you got to show us how it can take a beating too!
Those stoves sure are purty. I think a stove and becker knife thread would be a good place for some pictures of those. The tea kettle looks classy too. My camp tea kettle is pretty raw next to that.

All in all looked like a nice relaxing trip. Thanks for sharing such good pictures!

Great pics, love the gear and the food. Thanks for letting us visit your cabin this way. :)
Thanks man, glad you enjoyed it.

Thanks man, you know I'm a photo taking fool, haha. The stoves are fun. A lot more work than the propane stove, but worth the joy of using an antique like that.

I love the cabin pics. Looks like a great place to unwind.
Thanks Don, appreciate it.

Thanks man. Daizee's blade rocked. Wish I could have used it more. That would be cool. There's actually a stove thread that @Guyon started many moons ago.

Good stuff again Dubz. Knife porn, stove porn, food porn; canโ€™t go wrong with any of that. Those stoves are especially looking sweet, shining in the sunlight. Beautiful knife from Daizee too.

Canโ€™t believe itโ€™s that hot for you guys already. Weโ€™re still pushing to try and get to 60F/15C haha. At least everything looks nice and greened up for you.

Thanks man. That was unusually hot. Tomorrow night, both here, and down there, the low for the evening is supposed to get down to 31ยฐ. If it does hit 31ยฐ, it will be a record low.

Warrior, we love your cabin posts. I don't have a cabin per se. Actually, I don't have anything remotely like a cabin so I have to live vicariously through you and yours. I for one would fully encourage you to sell the small cabin and get a bigger one. Hell, make it closer to your house while your at it.

Sorry it was so hot, but it's nice to go to the cabin.

Thanks for taking us.
It was nice to get away, despite the heat.

Thanks man. We really like the place, but don't like the politics with the people that live close to our cabin. It's all private property behind the gate, including my place, but people that live before the gate say their deeds say they have the right to go down to the river there. It was formally owned by a woman that decided to divide it up into lots, for other to purchase and enjoy, and they all had access to the river, they deemed the "common ground". Then, the woman died, taxes were not paid, etc, so that went by the wayside. Their deeds, according to one of the property owners before the gate, said they have no legal claim to it anymore, as that expired some time ago. I really have no problem at all with people going down there, as they have never bothered anything of mine, but I get sick of it. I really wanted something more private to begin with, but, it's what I could afford.

I thought about selling my place, use that money for the down payment on something a little more expensive, sell that, use it for something a little nicer yet, etc. We'll see...

After many years of wanting a cabin we have finally picked up a cabin in the Sierra Nevadas. Couldnโ€™t be more excited to finally put my Beckerโ€™s to better use. We are at 7,700 feet and will get up to 40โ€™ of snow a year. Going to be lighting a lot of fires! The cabin has a wood burning stove and a fireplace.

Now to decide which Beckerโ€™s will join me.

Awesome gt! There's nothing like it. Bk9, for sure. A wood processing beast.

Thanks your cabin threads over the years have certainly helped motivate me. I do think the 9 will be the go to. Iโ€™ve got some of the rarer recent big boys like the bk20 and the bk29 so weโ€™ll see what I like best.

Thanks man. Just got back from the cabin again yesterday.

Coolio. An new pics of that trip? Sounds fun. So the deeds thing sounds like it was more of a word of mouth between the lady and the others, but nothing in the deeds stating such river access? And them going across your property to the river can be annoying, even if you are good hearted about it. Technically they are in the wrong when things changed, they should respect that. I applaud your fun during that hot trip.
