Camillus vs. KaBar Beckers?!?

I don’t think the Camillus BK-11 was D2. Not as a standard material at least. The latest Camillus catalog I can find (2006) lists the material as 0170-6C.

I don’t think the Camillus 11s are made with D2 just because of the way it Patinas compared to BK24. Even the look and feel is just different.I do believe the Camillus hardness level is a step or three harder than KABAR’S. I personally would pay more for the Camillus BK&T over KABAR’S just because they seemed to have taken more care with the machining process I don’t care for deep grind lines and it’s a a huge pain to remove em

Third one down is one of the blunt tip Camillus 11s that popped up a while back. 24 on the right.

Someone had a bucket or so of Camillus 11s he was given as part payment for work he had done at the time of the plant closing. He sold em on the exchange with a very reasonable price . I believe they were blems. All had blunt tips, some worse than others. I hope I got this story straight

A local business owner (metal fabrication and coating company), who we do fleet maintenance for, traded these to me for vehicle repairs. He was contracted years ago by Camillus to do some work...

Interesting... I'm so sure that I ordered a pair of D2 BK-11's from Knifeworks ~2008 or so. The only references I can find on their waybackmachine archives are indeed only 0170-6C. Maybe Psyop can check if he still has the box that I almost certainly sent one to him in. I don't think I have the remaining box, though I do have the 2nd knife still tucked away.

And I'm the one who just turned 60...I actually have a regular old Camillus BK11 that I was very sure was not D2 until you, my trusted friend, suggested that I might have something more specialer than it already is, with it's smexy-ass high saber grind and Kryptoglow custom scales...course, there oughta be pictures:

Yup, must have been blems.
They were true Camillus 11’s, but my tip was blunt as s$it!
Good knife though and I’m happy to own it!

The 11 is different: FFG and 1095. The Camillus version was saber grind, D2.

Daizee, I don’t believe the Cam-11 was D2.
Where’d you get that info?
Ka-bar made the D2 14, but I don’t know anything about a D2 11…
