DEK1

With great thanks and gratitude to both Jo and Nathan for marshaling my PITA DEK1 preorders and for Jo bearing with my self-absorbed requests of adding stuff after-the-facts. I promise to behave much better in the future, well, maybe ;)

No time for pics now (getting ready for an off the grid trip) but if I get the time, I will take some pics of the satin DEK1 with the rotten trailer park plywood which Nathan must've scored specially for me. When I return, I'm planning on doing some handle scales swaps here in-house to get things the way I want them now that they are laying in front of me with enough extra toys to play around with. Maybe after BladeShow2021.

I specially wanted to pay major props to Nathan because the acid washed/satin combo one with swedge and the penetrator tip ended up being so intricate and delicate but he certainly managed to finish it with the utmost professionalism. Imagine that the acid wash runs all the way across the spine to the tip and then he had to make that tip a penetrator one whereas preserving the AW effect toward the tip. A lesser pro would've just sharpened that top and if the AW wore out, oh welp, AW does wear out with use but no Mr. Nathan Carothers, no siree! Thank you again Nathan for the professionalism if fit and finish. We do notice these things and hence why we will follow you as loyal customers as long as you and yours wish to stay in the game.

Wait what? This is not the I <3 Nathan Thread! OK, enough of me gushing on Mr. NC or else rumors would fly and then I'll in big trouble with the NinJo 🤣

But seriously, great job guys + the CPK-Crew: Mighty Mark, Bo, Fred and Sadie/Ziggy

I can't wait to see the photos!

Yes she is! I thought that I wasn't much of a Cocobolo fan, but I am now. She will have some black hardware on her in a couple of days. And while I have the hardware off, I'll upload a photo of her with the blued TT hardware, and the black. I think that I'll like the black better.
Cocobolo ages amazingly and really gets some rich colors over time. I do not know how NtM finishes his wood scales, but coco will oxidize over time even with finish. It so cool how it ages.

Pre-order arrived.

Sorry fellas, didn't mean to be a tease. Getting ready for a trip off to the boonies and was running around like a headless chicken packing bags and thing. I think that I have managed to achieve a simultaneous dichotomy by both overpacking and under packing 😒

Anyway, planning on doing some handle scales swapping but not quite sure and what. Will have to play around when I get back but for now:

Tony, I've know you since you were wee nipper so you get a pass for messing with Unc. Matty. Marc you depraved poop flinging ape! I will deal with your unruly arse when our paths cross! Have fun kiddos. Matty out...

I wish I bought more Deks. Those iterations with wood, satin and satin+acid wash etc etc...golly
I don't always like satin, but on deks it looks mint as 👌
I think the Dek has become my favourite Cpk. What a blade

If the Dek2 has a pre-order, i'll have to think hard about what to do instead of defaulting to my usual plain jane.

Thanks for posting the eye candy everyone

DEK1 is a very fine knife.
I really can't think of any aspect of this knife that I don't like.
Yesterday I polished the secondary bevel a bit, not a crazy mirror polish, just a bit more polished then my usual 220 grit. Looks kinda pretty.
But here is my problem: in regard to this knife main purpose, do I need UF2? Not really.

I'm pretty much a newcomer to CPK but my DEK1 is my favorite. Even wearing her in the sheath at a forward cant, she doesn't poke into the seat when I sit down like my UF does. I think the blade length is perfect for EDC carry. It would be very unlikely that I would ever need my DEK1 to defend myself with since I am always armed with my Glock, but if the situation ever did arise I would feel well armed and confident with my DEK1 in my hands.

Thanks. The darkness of my Cocobolo scales is one of the main reasons that I love them. Most of my life I usually chose black scales. I would also love Osage Orange scales if they were more dark than light.

I've owned 6 or 7 models and UF is...was...i don't know anymore... my favourite. But I think I agree with you. The size of the Dek is just perfect for me and also discrete and carries so well. It also is an attractive piece visually.
Not to mention the ergos, they are literally the best i've ever had.
