Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Good Saturday morning. Bill I like your flowers.
I have an appointment this Friday to discuss my BP. I’ve been on BP meds for almost 10 years. My numbers shoot up whenever I’m in a hospital. And my heart likes to go out of sync right about then. In my conscious mind I am fine with hospitals but my lizard brain not so much. Anyway my numbers have been good for me lately. This morning was the best all week with a 108/68 with a 59 HR. I predict on Friday in the office 135/85.

My Toole on a rock.

Jeez I thought it was Sunday and had to edit this post. I do know where I live.

It’s been a year since I started having major health problems. I’ve had high blood pressure for years and used medication to control it. Last June I was diagnosed with renal failure after collapsing at home and taken to the emergency room. Fifty years of hard living had finally caught up with me. As I lay in the hospital bed a doctor told me that they might be able to save my life. My brother is a board certified emergency room doctor and told me that I was lucky they were able to save me he and said that I was, “Circling the drain”. In one night in the hospital I quit smoking and drinking cold turkey. Fast forward to the end of July my brother came to visit me and one of the first things he did was listen to my heart and said that he believed that I had Afib and took me to the hospital where they did an EKG and my heart was beating 180 BPM. I was immediately admitted to the hospital. Funny thing was I was asymptomatic. They were able to with medication get my heart back in rhythm. After spending a week in the hospital I was released. Every thing seemed normal until after a routine blood test my primary care physician told me that I had a UTI and stated me on antibiotics. I seemed to improve for several days but it kept getting worse again. For the next several weeks they kept trying different antibiotics and nothing worked. I was pissing needles in the meantime. In early November of last year my urologist scheduled a CAT scan. The night before I collapsed and was rushed to the emergency room and admitted so they could do the scan the next day. After the procedure I was taken back to my room and there was a surgeon there who told me that I needed emergency surgery and I asked when and she said RIGHT NOW! Turns out I had the worst case of diverticulitis she had ever seen and without surgery I was hours away from septic shock and most likely as @Modoc ED would say take the long dirt nap. After five hours of surgery they removed six inches of my colon. I recovered but ended up with a colostomy bag. Two weeks ago my surgeon did a reverse ostomy and removed the stoma so I can now have normal bowel functions. Finally I also do not have high blood pressure anymore! It’s amazing what quitting smoking and drinking plus losing ninety pounds can do for one’s health. I now cherish every day and couldn’t have done it without the help of my beautiful bride who took our wedding vows to take me in sickness and health seriously.🙏

Cheers, Dan

That's a hard road to travel. Glad you are here to post about it!

Hi Kurt - hope your health continues to improve. Lovely LF knife and the photo is also very nice. Thanks for the compliments on the flowers. My wife gets all the credit for the flowers that grow in our yard. I get the credit for all the digging.😁

Hope your day brightens Jack. We had thunder storms last night and it seems that they are continuing this morning too. The roses like the rain.

Thanks Bill, nice pics  I actually took an umbrella out with me today, which is a very rare event, and then it didn't rain, and was actually quite a nice day
Schultz is a good looking 🐑

Hope your numbers stay good Kurt :) I bumped into a friend who is a senior consultant, and he was stressing how vital it was to keep those numbers low, even if it means taking medication. Great pic my friend, I reckon most of us have got the day wrong once or twice! :D
Happy Saturday Guardians !

Another cold and dreary day here. 😕

Hope the weather improves David, fab Flat Cap Lamb buddy :)
Looking good gents :)

I've not been sleeping well these past few weeks, and I understand that might be a factor. My worst readings last week were 156/81 and 146/93.

Sleep Apnea is a silent killer. Pretty easy to blow it off as a little bit of snoring. If you aren't sleeping well, get a sleep study ASAP. Older men die of sleep apnea but, it gets overlooked as "natural causes" most of the time so goes under reported.

Sleep is very important to the physical and mental health of everyone!

That could be a huge factor. " Sleep Is The Life Support Of The Human Body ". Great saying and health hack. 🥰 🥰 🥰
That is a good quote Leon :)
I hope everyone has a nice weekend.

As I live alone, it's easy for me to forget that I have Sleep Apnoea! 😖 I was diagnosed with it about 15 years ago, and used a CPAP machine for a while, but I have a hiatus hernia, and a very bad cough caused by silent reflux, which eventually made it impossible for me to sleep with the machine :(

Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone is having a great weekend. I didn't get to meet up with Wolfie yesterday, as Ripley, his teenage daughter, had split up with her boyfriend, so he was on "consolation duty". Hopefully, teenage hearts are soon mended :) I did get to meet up with some other friends though, and we had lunch together, and a couple of pints. I have a couple of work meetings later, but no plans until then, even though the housework is calling  ;) Carrying this rare one today. Have a wonderful Sunday Guardians
