Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Oops. Looks like I promised to return with lambsfoot content in Carl's Lounge. Oh well.
These little knights were made by Britain's in England. The heads turned, the visors raised and lowered, the swords came out of the fists and went into the tiny scabbards, the poniards went into one of the loops on the belt. Their waists turn, too. Step on them and their heads break off.

I certainly understand, Preston. I've had a long day too and am exhausted. It's hard to keep up sometimes.
Thanks, Vince, especially as the Lambsfoot grows in popularity on this side of the pond
Get’s some rest, Vince, then let us know how the Shiner Tour went. My guess is that a good time was had by all.

pjsjr pjsjr Tell us all about it....later...ZZZZZZ

dc50 dc50 That Image warms my heart.

@waverave Nifty pins there, Darren. Unless your sworn to secrecy, any further Lamb Intel would be much appreciated. Sure looks like you had fun.

tmd_87 tmd_87 Cheers at the fire pit.
Harvey, retriever field trialing is a niche sport. Not many know about it for various reasons. I don't do trials anymore, but love being around the people and dogs. I'm fortunate to be able to work with Dutch and expand his talents with the help of a professional and a group of like minded folks.
!
Thank you very much Dwight, stellar pic there, as always :)

Hope you get a good 'un Larry :)

Good luck in your new adventure Dave :)

Me too! :) Though I think I'd need 'Learner' plates! :D

Looking good Dave :)

RALF is looking good :)

I saw Charlie's graphics a while back, but it is great to see those buttons in your hand Darren :) Excited about the knives

Hope you had a great visit Vince, cool pic with your AC

Sounds like you put a lot of work in Preston :) Great pic of your '19 :)

Thank you Joshua :)

Nice work Michael, it looks like it'll cut like the Dickens :)

Morning folks, hope everyone is having a great weekend. I ache today, but in a sort of good way, as I clocked up miles yesterday than I regularly hike these days :) Got some housework to do today, and some stuff in the garden, but hoping I can hang out on The Porch a little too ;) Enjoy your Sunday Guardians, this one seemed appropriate to the day :)

Wonderful shot of the Damascus Lambsfoot, Jack, that is a great example! I ache also, but it's also a good ache. I'm lucky to be able to do what I can with Dutch. Have a good day and easing those sore muscles with more work...that's the way:D:p:D
Well may I say how handsome it looks. I'll have to go back through the thread and look up it's introduction
I hope that beer then is a worthy successor to that other Newcastle Brown Ale which is now brewed in....Birmingham..??

That looks stunning Dave. But I've got to say when I looked at that picture my first thought was actually "I wonder if Cochrane also has a big head sculpture??"...:D
Good look with the move!

A magazine quality shot again Dwight; you certainly have some skill with a lens.

And thank you all chaps, your very welcome and it's good to hear you enjoy them so much. They'll be more as I post more pics of my rosewood, which is helping me with some chores about the house today. :)

Ah, the Headless Swordsmen! ;) I used to have some just the same Jer, they were very inexpensive and lots of fun, some of my earliest toys when I think about it :)

Bananas are fruit, and I usually have fruit with my breakfast. So, ya... go for it, Dave.

Have a good Sunday all
I hope you have a good Sunday too, Dwight.

The last of a few I got for Christmas in 1967 in London. Good thing we had family there, because absolutely everything was closed for a few days.
Cool action figures decorating your lambsfoot photo, Jer!:cool::thumbsup:
Is the knight in back, with sword raised, carrying in his left hand a slice of pizza topped with a white Yorkshire rose??? Curious.

Here's another shot of my Man Jack, taken when I first received it. The photo shows the mark side, whose stag isn't quite as nice as pile side IMHO. (The pic also shows several reflections of my fingers, a flaw that still plagues my shots.)

LOL! :D

I think with a lot of the earlier models of that pattern, they started off with stag which wasn't the best, cut it too thick, then ground off half the character. My first example was absolutely awful o_O Wright's made me another with Sambar covers, my first contact with the firm. Very decent of them, and the stag is a lot better, but it still suffers from the same issue, why use good stag and then grind if off?!

q0NwkcS.jpg

I think they are doing a better job now

YFhcFWC.jpg

Not that you get Damascus! :D But they're retaining more of the stag, Sambar in this case

Thank you sir.

Have a good Sunday all

Gary it’s so good to see you and your “Man Jack”! :D

John, it's for a bow plate. It goes on the tip of a violin bow to help shape and hold the horse hair of the violin' bow. As seen in this picture the bow on the bottom is complete with hair and shows a plate of ivory. I don't have ivory so am using brass. They are available commercially, but I like to tinker, so I'm attempting this. No, I don't play the violin, this was in a thrift store for very little. I thought it would be a good wall hanger. MY best friend is a string player and has offered lesson.

Oh yes, sunshine and Ironwood = beauty!

Same here...but those two are very nice companions to wait with!

Glad you're getting to use the big'n, Ty. They do work and age well.
Looks like a fun project. Hope you are healing up ok.

So glad spring is here and excited to be out of the house. Hope you all have a splendid Sunday.

Good morning all! I have ordered my first lambsfoot, specifically an arthur wright large in rosewood as recommended after talking with members in this thread and am quite excited to recieve it! Im guessing it will take a couple weeks for transit.

I am curious about the Guardian lambsfoot knife? Was that a special edition for this group? It appears to have a different bolster and maybe different wood on the scales? Also Is there a horn version as ive seen some beautiful blonde horns reading through the posts? I really would like one of those also.

WOW! that came out incredible Dwight.
Thanks Dave

Nice call, hope it reaches you soon :)

The Guardians Lambsfoot is an annual group buy, 2017 was horn, in 2018 we had both horn and ebony, this year it was Desert Ironwood. Different bolsters, and superior fit and finish. Next year, who knows, but probably not horn? If you get yourself a paid membership some time this year, PM me your email address, and I'll add you to the Guardians email list

Special Dave :)

Me and my boy stayed up a lil late last night around the fire pit....I just woke up, I'm tired and he's ready to go the swap meet...Lambsfoot on a Sunday!

That kind of thing is even more important than a good night's sleep Taylor :) Your '19 is looking good, have you oiled the wood? Enjoy your Sunday my friend
