Homemade Wicked Edge

Hello Moxy,

Very nice project. I liked it so much that I decided to go ahead and build two, one for my friend and one for me.

Instead of purchasing thru EBAY and pay shipping on all items I decided to purchase straight from 80/20 Website and pay for Shipping and handling once (see below links)

Also took your advise of using the Studded Heims rod (below is the link).

So far I have spent $205 for both systems, including both Angle Cubes.

My questions is: Which stones should I buy? Which ones are the absolute must have? I will be using the system for kitchen knives and pocket EDCs.

Thanks

Glad to see this thread with the pictures working again.

I really like the design of the new Wicked Edge GO. Like many I was a bit frustrated by the early product development. I see a lot of your home made version in the new GO model.

Wicked Edge Go does not include the improved bifurcated Generation 3 Cam-Lock Vise for securely locking distal-tapered blades. Only the WE130 based models do. They include Field and Sport Pro WE230, Generation 3 Pro, Commercial Series Sharpener, and Pro-Pack III.

I do not know why Wicked Edge continues to sell the inferior vise.

I will likely budget in a WE Generation 3 Pro Sharpener for the new year. They curiously call it their premier sharpener though it is not the most expensive model in their lineup.

Hey everyone,
Stumbled across this thread last night and decided its such a good idea! I found a 8020 close to home and I'm going to order the parts and make one.
Just a few questions though, I can't tell from the photos.
The lengths of 1010 come in 3.6 metres as standard, what length did find sufficient?

How did you mount the steel 'jaws' onto the bracket without having extrusions on the inside face?

Lastly, where are you getting the stones from and how are they attached to the rod?
thanks very much!
