I should of listen to Karda

I love rottweillers, I never owned one (does anyone really own a dog?). But neighbors have had them.

Just like the others mentioned they are only mean if you make them mean. The 3 or 4 I've known were very friendly. Very protective of family members. Not recommended to mess with the kids or approach them too quickly even.

I haven't had much experience with the pit bulls, well I did have one in the neighborhood. Chewed the cord off my skill saw while it was plugged in. He didn't come to visit much after that. I didn't even know it. I made a cut, put the saw down, did something and went to make another cut and the saw wouldn't run. No dog and a severed cord. That was a clue.

Even he was a good dog, wasn't aggressive or anything. The officers here deal with them regularly. They seem to run hand in hand with drug houses and gang activity.

I think it has more to do with irrational fears. A lot of dog breeds are banned in certain countries. The American Pit Bull Terrier is banned in England even though it is one of the friendliest dogs on the planet. It was known as the "nanny" dog in the US for decades. The "Little Rascals" dog was actually a pit bull.

The Dogo like other large breeds has been used for fighting by bad owners. It has massive jaw and neck strength that can be dangerous if not trained properly. It is no more aggressive than any other dog. The most aggressive dogs I know are the little snappy one, usually less than 10lbs. IMHO there are no such thing as bad dogs, only bad owners. The dogo would make a wonderful family pet as long as it knows who is boss. Dogs are pack animals. They are happy as long as they know their place. A Omega dog is just as happy as the Alpha male and Beta female. The omega is part of the pack and therefore part of the family. Make your dog the omega and it will serve you faithfully its entire life. It will never bite anyone its not suppose to. Dogs have evolved with humans for millennia, they "get us" and understand more than we give them credit for.
Nailed it brother! Irrational fear and irrational ignorance. Ive had the privledge to provide full lives to many dogs. Some pit bulls, staffordshire terriers, and many other breeds. The media is shameful and peoples breed specific ignorant attacks is disgusting and unfair but no need to get into that.
My dangerous Dogo came home a few weeks ago with something in his mouth. I was going to let him eat it but I noticed a leg and a tail hanging out and it was moving. He had it very lightly grasped and dropped it in my hands. It was a wet kitten maybe a week or two old.

He had all the chance in the world to eat it but he didnt? He didnt hurt it at all. He usually eats rabbits? My wife and I cleaned it up and started bottle feeding it and hes doing fine now. He ate cat food from a can yesterday so I guess he will make it.

Your dog isnt just dangerous but also very smart. Once you nurture and feed the cat it becomes a meatier meal.

Just trying to be funny and hopefully that did t turn out toooo mean.
To be honest, Super cute story! Just showed the pics to my daughter before she fell asleep.

Thats my fly swatter. Them pesky flies land on ya so I give em a quick blast and burns tdheir wings off. Then you can stomp on them to finish them off. Wife gets ticked when I burn the hair off my arms and stink up the living room but it works!

...that is one set of chompers I would never like to run into. Actually I could run as fast I as wanted an it still wouldn't matter. That pooch could tear my ass apart at 40mph!

actually, i lied big time there. not only was millie, my greyhound, not agressive to humans at all, but that photo was not her, just a look-alike. and it was a fortuitous shot of that particular greyhound about to eat a treat tossed to it. it also was not agressive (unless you are a rabbit, bird, squirrel).

my male greyhound was a great guard dog.

actually, i was playing with him thru the gate, he was a puppy in that one, about 10 months old.

his normal summer watch dog position at the open front door. he'd trip anyone wanting in. then lick them and watch them walk out with anything they wanted. he would bark thru the door at anyone knocking on the door with a big deep scary bark. then lick them if i let them in.

both have passed on over the rainbow bridge, their replacement is Poppy.

not a single guard dog gene in her body. anyone could break in and be surprised when she just stares at them from the bed.
i had a workman in to install a new heating system. he was here working for about a half hour before he noticed there was a dog on the couch. i can't recall her barking indoors at all. outdoors you can get her to bark while playing. she loves chasing pigeons and cats. hasn't caught any tho.

OMG... That is so toughing. they are really just sweet animals that absorb the energy around them. You have positive energy flowing in your home due to the contentment of the animals. Congrats on a peaceful home bro.

That's very cool Ndog. Wonder where he found the kitten?
Not a clue! I heard kittens a few days before somewhere in a pile of cinder blocks by the house but the Momma had apparently moved them. We searched for her but never found her. Im thinking my dog found the last one while she was moving them or something but who knows?

nice kitty!

there is a short window from about 2 weeks old to 6 weeks when kittens must be human (and dog) socialised if they are not to become feral. looks like he's learned that now.

he probably needs worming (kittens are pretty much born with worms) & appropriate kitty shots, as well as discussions with the vet as to when to neuter him.

you do realise he will become the pack's alpha male?

Pure bred, properly trained pits are the friendliest dogs. The pits in my neighborhood are the bane of my existence and the main factor why I bought my fist HI. Been chased about 7 times, my mother nearly attacked(able to run into fenced patio),and just 2 days ago I had to dig graves for a litter of kittens slaughtered by the neighborhood pits(had to go on a kitten scavenger hunt for all the pieces). I say in these cases it is the owners fault because they're violent brutes and it's as if the dogs emulate them to please their masters. Ya gotta have a good soul if you own one of those cause i'm sure that they are influenced by whatever vibe the owner gives off more than any other dog. Also, it's not always the owners fault. Dogs are flawed just as humans are.

Very true CubeLW... Dogs are like sponges for human energy. They have evolved through the millennia with humans and feed off of our energy. Most house hold animals including cats are just vessels of our own energy. Be good to your animals and they will be good animals. Its as simple as that.

Weve already taken him to the vet for the deworming and deconstipation treatment. He has been constipated since we got him until yesterday when he decided that I was his litterbox. I fixed that &%^%& real quick. Hes now litterbox trained in one day:D I dont know if anything other than my Jack Russell can be aplha male. My Dogo is afraid of the little terror. You may be right tho Kronck. Come to think of it my JR wont get anywhere near the cat. Maybe theres a peckin order there already?

Hes handsome christcl! Great dogs. I used to have a pair of husky/gs mix. Super smart!

He is pretty dang cute aint he? I think he has some Siamese in him. Uncle Bill:eek: Perfect! Only problem is my grand daughter already started calling him Joey? Must be a cartoon character or something. I was figuring Id have to give him up to my daughter as soon as he got old enough to eat out of a bowl because of my Dogo pup but they seem to have an affinity for each other?
